Something to consider, we have what you might call Tennessee blood behind the scenes this time.

Currie has a master's degree from Tennessee, so he undoubtedly, does not want Tennessee to be the laughingstock that Hart and Cheek made us out to be.

I mentioned Davenport's local connections and upbringing.

Manning is now retired and is behind the scenes making things happen.

Fulmer is raising money and we all know how he feels about TN.

Majors is no doubt talking to Jon and the people in power about hiring him.

Point being, we have a lot of people who love and understand Tennessee now, that we didn't have 5 years ago.

What's even better than that is the fact that the football coach they are rumored to be pursuing has stated on numerous occasions his love and admiration for Tennessee and people associated with Tennessee.

This...Having Orange Blood at the helm to spearhead this search is Key. Last time you had a Bammer/Nole who was butt hurt about losing power to a coach. I think Currie is fine with Gruden having power as long as he wins. If Gruden can run the show, stay clean of the NCAA, and win, Currie has less stress from having to manage football and LOOKS LIKE A GENIUS for hiring Gruden. Why wouldn't u want less stress and to be celebrated?

I was already roped in when he dropped the awful Bama bomb on me. He?s a good one and easily the best thing that ever came out of that school. We make it work.

I married a Dawg and we’re heading to Tuscaloosa in our RV to meet another house-divided couple (he’s Tennessee, she’s Bama)! Go Vols! Soon!

It’s a good list.

Hell no. You can't win in college without putting your athletes in a position to out athlete the guy guarding them. The spread requires the defense to win one on one match ups, which most teams don't have the personnel to do consistently.

Look at how well the pro style offense is treating Jim Harbaugh.

Bingo a Hybrid Power Spread would allow you to have all answers vs a defense. They suck at pass defense? Spread them out and pick them apart. Suck at Run Defense? Line up in the I and stuff down their throats. Plus, with having the flexibility of both types of offenses, this can be a HUGE asset to not developing a pattern offensively leaving the DC we are facing confused and guessing.

Okay, I'll just say this as another little hypothetical, thinking out loud type of statement.
I hope Coach Gruden someway, somehow, gets Al Wilson involved. I know he doesn't have his degree yet (that's right, ain't it?) so he won't be on paid staff with a position title and all, but if we can have a VFL DJ, can't we have a VFL Motivator. Let him lead the team in the maxims. Make him the get-back-coach. Anything to have his fire and leadership associated with the team.

Maxim's Coach & Get Back Coach Al Wilson. Make this happen!

I think you misunderstood the tone of this post.

It's what we are use to. Someone high up screwing things up.

On that note, it's a sad day when the political forum is more sane than the football forum. Holy cow.

We are battered and beaten up bad when we think a fired SEC coach, a current "up and coming mid major coach," or a coach with a year of experience, or one big win would be a great hire here.

As crazy as the rest of the world thinks we are, if Gruden truly is mulling over the idea of coaching here, he can be had.

All in, Gruden or bust.

Soon.
