Before Georgia Game: 1% (always hoped)

After Georgia Game: 5%

After I heard some news from a couple of very close friends: 15%

The way things have been going so far and the status's I have heard: 28%

After the Bama game: __%

If the obstacles that existed last time from this thing happening are removed this time around that can only be good news. I think the biggest factor here are not Currie (although I'm really impressed with him) but Manning and Fulmer kind of leading the way. Shows they're willing to put anything aside bring back UT football to its rightful place.

Interesting. I watched her interview with Finebaum the day he was on the Hill before the Georgia game. She made some very interesting statement about wins, and the correct number being up to the AD. She indicated there were lofty expectations for Tennessee Football. I remember being struck by her body language, and words at the time....almost like she knew.

I have believed existing plans were set in motion after Florida, and weren't solidified until after Georgia. My take on Currie, is that contingencies have been in place since he arrived. Apparently the big hitters we're impressed with his preparations. Sounds like she has been on board, and behind her AD. I hope that is correct.

I would agree to just about all of this. Currie was brought in over Blackburn for some very specific connections and skills. I was all Blackburn as well until I found this out.

My opinion is that the Hurd situation, USC and vandy issues all played a part in this as well. The leash was very short back then and Hart was a protector.

All that being said, that's my opinion. I personally like Butch and wanted him to succeed here. I'm not happy it came to this, but I accept it. I thank him for his hard work and time here, and wish him the best.

It's been forever and a day since Tennessee did something that brought positive national attention to the program. When Butch was hired, let's face it, it wasn't ground breaking news across the media. You had to search to even find it being a story. However, when Michigan hired Harbaugh, OSU hired Myer, and Bama hired Saban whether anyone wants to admit it or not.....those programs instantly became envied because of the hire. Just once in my lifetime I'd like to see UT envied for a hire. I'd like to be the talk of positive attention with story lines like "Big Shake Up in the SEC" or "The SEC landscape just shifted". We need something positive and BIG to happen and Gruden is the key to making that possible. Even is he can coach and recruit at 50%, it's still going to be enough to get the results we all want. He's no dummy and I'm sure he'll surround himself with the best staff money can buy.

How about "Better add some orange to the trophy, because Tennessee Football is back to play and Knoxville is rocking"

I love the Gruden discussion....but here is a real question. With all the expectations and Gruden hype out of 400 plus pages....can Gruden live up to the hype and if he doesn’t or can’t live up can his ego handle that he fell short?? There’s no garuntee of his nor anyone’s success. Can he and is he willing to take on that risk?

If you are a number one recruit. You want to play for Kelly, who recently to these kids had glory days at Oregon and failed in the NFL..... Or would you rather play for someone who is on tv every week talking about football, that has alot of passion for the game, and that most any player or coach will say is one of the greatest in terms of coaching? Ill hang up and listen....

not to mention his QB club show every year. Recruiting will not be a problem with Gruden.

I think all of us can live with "we atleast tried"

Involved in a good way? Again, I've heard that the administration, top down, are lined up for this. If she's been instrumental, then my opinion will be forever changed.

In her public appearances she has looked a bit crazy/goofy to put it nicely.

Davenport was born and raised in Bowling Green, KY and she has family that lives in Nashville, so it is my belief just based upon that information, that she understands the scope and magnitude of Tennessee football.

Currie was here before and he was here during some of the golden years.

I believe that Currie and Fulmer were both brought in almost specifically for the sake of hiring Jon Gruden.

Interesting you mention personnel issues. I happen to agree. There have been rumors of locker room issues for a while....Hurd happened to be arguably the most high profile one.

I think you're right about Currie....and am becoming more and more convinced we hired the right guy for this particular moment in time.

Am I the only one that prefers Kelly over Gruden?

OK guys, let me handle this one. NO, Kelley is not going to coach at UT. HE AIN'T COMING. He coached with other coaches players. HIs record is not very good. Why would he give up his cushy job at ESPN to come to UT.

Good post. I hope you're right.

Boro, DTO, and EB4H...

Do you have any guesses on how much Gruden will make per year if he is hired??? Have you heard anything along those lines?

SOOOOON..
