You think Fulmer knows the offense? The defense? The plays? Personnel groupings?

You can't just plug a new coach in mid week. It would have to be someone already on staff who knows exactly what's going on. 99% it is Hoke.

From what I’ve seen none of the coaches know what’s going on.

He wouldn’t have to. That is what the coordinators are for.

That's absurd. So get Fulmer to stand on the sideline as essentially performance art?

I would be upset with the AD for essentially saying they couldn't give two ****s if we win any more games thus year.

Even if it is legal, the optics would be terrible. I would have it fully agreed to, and maybe even get the new coach to sign it, but I would not sign on behalf of UT until the day after Butch is fired.

Optics? The MOU ideally is never made public in that form. It becomes the basis for the formal contract that gets signed when everything is revealed. It serves to protect both parties from the other bailing at the last minute, without being a full formal contract.

A head coach manages the game. Down and distance, penalties, when to kick and when to go, the clock and timeouts. That is why you see so few of them also serve as a coordinator. There is a lot to do.

We will have to agree to disagree. BTW, I have a lot of experience with contracts. I’ve negotiated more of them than I can count. I know how it works.

I just ran into Rick Barnes at dinner. He said something very interesting.

He said....soon.

J/K

But yeah...I really did run into Rick Barnes.

i just ran into a friend...his parents wrote the song Rocky Top....he is a big donor and has a lot of access...asked him when we were changing coaches and he said soon

So it's not a contract but neither party can break the non contract?

No problem. We each have our own experiences; you negotiate them, I draft them. It's fair to draw different conclusions on that.

I’m dizzy trying to keep up..lol...so speed reading through the pages today I gather that UT flew their plane..picked up hharrahs Casio..dropped it around Knoxville where they immediately turned it into a country club...Gruden bought a house and turns in into a fraternity for his sons brothers..Gruden flew to NJ ...and then came back for dinner. I’m exhausted lol

Close enough for horseshoes and hand grenades. The legal term of art is "quasi-contract."

I think this came into play when Hart was interviewing Charlie Strong. They reached a verbal understanding and Hart asked him to sign a MOU, but Strong said he wanted to talk with his players first. He didn't sign, changed his mind, and the rest is history.

Imagine how worn out the pilot is.

Just my 2 cents here.. No inside info.

Firing him after Bama makes the most sense. It will undoubtedly be the worst loss of the season. After Alabama, the rest of the games on the schedule are somewhat winnable. They know that there isn't a coach on earth who could take over and beat Bama on such short notice. Not Gruden, not Fulmer, no one... He wants to make himself look like the hero who saved the season, by giving the appearance that his decision led to positive results (aka wins). Fire him after Bama and an interim could easily win the remaining games on the schedule. This allows us to end the season on a positive note, with a positive outlook for next year. "We fired Butch and the losing stopped!". This will serve as additional confirmation that Butch was the problem, in case there are any non-believers left.

Best case scenario for Currie:
- Let Butch get destroyed by Alabama
- Fire him after the game.
- Announce interim (or New HC) the same day
- Interim brings team to life, beats KY handily and wins out.
- New coach takes over before bowl game; wins bowl game.
