JC knows what he has to do with this hire. He knows how bad it made Hamilton look and got it taste of it with Todd Raleigh being a disaster (Currie was the lead voice behind TR).

With that being said and given his big 12 ties I would be shocked if Bob stoops isn’t his first call followed by Patterson. I think Stoops is more likely than Patterson. I’ve said before I think Jimbo is a possibility bc of things I hear from a friend that works Ops at FSU.

JC will have to get turned down by 3-4 high profile guys before dropping down to even like a Mullen, which would still be a great hire imo.
Jimbo needs a change of scenery

Yeah, Stoops will definitely be at the top of the list to gauge interest. However, probably will decline. I am still 🤞🏻

I’m preparing myself. We’re going to hire some scrub. We’re going to have to google his name. It’s the Tn way. They don’t care if we’re good at football

You’re right. I have been contacted about the job. I told them I would run John Kelly at the goalline everytime. They said that’s an improvement.

Need a catchy slogan brick by brick is taken. Also told me never use the words individual or physicality.

Sounds good to me. I forget if you'd said this already but do you think there's mutual interest between Frost and Tennessee?

Impossible to tell. If anything is going on it would be through back channels. Aka JC contacting Frost agent or something a long those lines. I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion that Frost would choose NeB over UT. There would be a ton of pressure on him at NeB and the fact is UT is a significantly better job even more so now that NeB would be competing against Meyer, Franklin, harbaugh etc.

Any truth that Jimbo's buyout is astronomical?

I also have been thinking Jimbo will be in play. Have seen some comments by FSU people about how Fishers is constrained by coaching pool resources to improve his team past few years so hasn't been able to make changes needed

The good thing about JC (which is eveident in basically his hiring of Todd Raleigh) is that he doesn’t really care if a coach is super media savvy and a flashy character guy. That is something that especially Hamilton but Hart wanted to...someone that could “sale” the program. Currie knows that winnings games is the ultimate sale point so those “roll up your sleeves blue collar” guys like Patterson aren’t at a disadvantage.

Jimbo is getting a new indoor practice facility per his request so FSU is making the effort but I hear he is still very unhappy. Recently divorced too fwiw

FSU is going to struggle this year and maybe even next year too. They have the usual slate of UF, Miami, Clemson, and Louisville as well as Virginia Tech and Notre Dame.

If he has a bad 6-6/7-5 season this year and then an 8-4 or 9-3 season in 2018, he'll be feeling very uncomfortable in Tallahassee.

A change of scenery might do him good. I think he would be a huge, huge hire for us. 80-20 at FSU with a national championship.

Yea totally agree. According to my friend he gets a lot of push back from money guys even over the “logo overhaul”. Apparently there is a lot of tension between jimbo and them. Having a tough season I’m sure is making it worse. If we could steal him that would be a complete grand slam.

JAV and Atlanta Vol, among others have said that the administration/boosters are for the most part are all on the same page from a standpoint of wanting to nail a big time hire and spend top dollar in order to do so. Also, that they'll be willing to relinquish more control to the head coach. Does this sound right to you?

I really don’t know much as far as that is concerned. I would guess that just depends on the candidate. If a coach say like Jimbo That has a lot of clout and a ring says I want to run the show how I want to run it. I wouldn’t imagine that would be too hard of a bargain.

Is JAV babyvol?

I recall reading that as well. That's why I'm hoping it can be confirmed soon if an offer was given to Gruden. Mainly because even if Gruden declines it shows me the AD and boosters are willing to open the check book.

I would put more stock into Peyton getting Gruden to coach the Colts instead of the Vols. Not everyday you get a job offer that includes a QB like Andrew Luck.

Not sure he would like the way things are run outside of the program though.

Cops that arrest players, media that exposes instead of cover up and whatnot.

That is a two way street. The media only covers up stuff (like they do here) until they dislike you or they are ticked off.
