There is all this despair among the many loyal and faithful Vol fans, and it should be. Anything from disappointment to utter disgust at how this program deficiency is being handled. The respect for the boys and the university, the storied program with all its great history. The "bricks" falling in everywhere. Going day to day as if things will improve.

So Butch, what's it really about? It's all about you and getting yours. The millions of dollars invested by Volnation to support the boys, but apparently to you it's only about $$$$$$$$$$ and hanging tough until you get it.

Take a lesser amount of buyout and move on.

I'm sure that you would do the right thing, and quit on your players, and tell U.T. to keep the money.

Asking Butch to take anything less than what we agreed to in his contract is a pipe dream and isn't reasonable

At this point, I would imagine its quite obvious to Butch that this ship is sinking fast and he wants off of it as fast as we want him gone.

I have it on good authority that Butch will turn this around starting this Saturday against Alabama.

You do realize contracts are negotiated by BOTH sides right? Why would he take less money than was neogtiated? As any American who has taken an economics class can tell you, the object is to make as much money as possible, and coaching jobs are so limited the negotiated buyouts etc are there for a reason.

His plan is working. He is only in year 5. He said early on that it takes 6-7 years to build the program.

5 years in almost everybody wants to pull the plug and run him out of town.

It's his conservative nature that has him in hot water. Very similar to when Fulmer and Chavis got called out by the UCLA coach that beat us back in 2008(My brother got me tickets. Everyone should swim in the Pacific Ocean as an adult.). Still they didn't change..

The players can still save his job.

Win out and he won't be fired.

That's what I want.

Go Vols!

Beat the gumps.

Not sure the reason for the personal attack on Jones. As others state, he's worked hard to bring the program back. His failing is player development and on-field coaching. That doesn't mean he warrants personal attacks. New AD now (thankfully, Hamilton is long gone) and hopefully, brighter future.

The competition for "Dumbest Post of the Year" just keeps getting stiffer and stiffer. The post above is a very strong entry.

I'm a father to 5, you will never convince me there's no Easter Bunny.

I've seen a CBJ team convert a Hail Mary against an SEC team. I can't rule a win out on Tuesday. The odds are better(I'm guessing that it's at least in the ball park.)than throwing snake eyes and I've done that often(Mostly for the good. House rules, snakes eyes gets the pot(Free parking in Monopoly.)).

Win or lose to the gumps, I think CBJ coaches against Ky.

Pull it off coach.

I'm going to post this same message in every topic like this one, but I am amazed by the people who agree to these contracts. It's amazing that you can suck so bad and still be guaranteed so much money. I do not know if any other profession is similar. Now I know it's necessary to some extent in retaining a coach, but I find it ridiculous that we have agreed to pay him so much based on little success and results on the field. Buyouts should be based on success and on-field results. If you fail to meet those expectations your buyout should be reduced accordingly.

It's such an unstable business. When your success is determined by the effort and results of youngsters, even after averaging 100+ hour weeks yourself.

4% isn't much until you're dealing with $100,000,000(That's a bunch of 0s.).

What are they doing with the $96,000,000?

Just win out.

Beat the gumps.
