Looking like Mullen will probably win 7 or 8 again this year. Idc what anyone says, what he's done at MSU is impressive. If he's winning between 7 and 9 most years there what would he do here with superior talent/resources and a weaker division?

I like Mullen because he has developed talent. I just don't know if he will win championships. I know he has done well for MSU standards, but seriously look at how he has gotten to 7 to 9 wins each year. Until the SEC required a power 5 OOC game, he had 4 automatic wins on their schedule. They then set up a home and home with BYU, who happens to be terrible this year.

Troy Calhoun? Surprised Hubbs and co. didn't throw his name out already. He has been linked to the Tennessee job since 2008.

two 10 win seasons at a service academy since 2014, plus playing in a tough group of 5 league. 9 bowls in 10 seasons. Doing it all with service academy restrictions and time obligations. He has NFL OC experience to boot. Only 51. Give him Tennessee's resources, and the ability to build a great staff with southern ties. Could be very very good.

Mullen's 2014 season was somewhat fool's gold. He got MSU to #1 by beating three top-10 teams in a row (LSU, A&M, Auburn), but all three of them finished 8-5.

I just don't see him being a major upgrade over Butch. He would be better for sure because he actually knows one side of the ball and can develop QBs, but I'm not sold on him as an in-game coach. South Alabama loss is head-scratching in year 8 as well.

Exactly how the baseball search went. He had everyone basically just making up names.

I think that he is going to try and do the same thing with the football coach; however, football has a much bigger footprint and a much higher interest level and it is going to be much, much more difficult to keep it cloak and dagger for this search, IMO.

UK is also their permanent East opponent. When they didn't have to play a power 5 OOC game, they almost had 5 wins in the bag. Just win one against Arkansas, Ole Miss, or Auburn and you have 6. All of those schools have gone through horrific seasons in the last 8 years.

He campaigned for the Georgia and Florida jobs. He wants to move for the money and higher ceiling. We provide both of those things.

I'm a prof at Mississippi State, and this town is small. That's not what I heard.

Campaigning could also mean your agent is floating your name for leverage in contract negotiations or facility upgrades.

Okay cool. Do some digging for us! Lol.

Plenty of national writers and media members have stated he was very upset to not be considered for the Florida job and have said he talked to Georgia about their opening.
