Considering that we’re 0/3 on big name hires since Fulmer left, you better not hold out for Kelly or Petersen either. No one thought Butch was even in the mix and bam they announce it and the board crashes. Kelly is the most realistic of the big name hires. I’ll say that.


UT going out and paying $6 million to get an elite proven head coach after paying out an entire staff buyout is something I’ll believe when I see it. Everyone knows this program has gone cheap many times in the past.

Well, considering the fact the names "Hamilton" and "Hart" aren't involved in the search but the names "Fulmer" and "Manning" are (allegedly), I'm a wee bit more optimistic at this point.

Given the fact, financially speaking, UT is in a far better spot than 2012 is a difference too.

Just curious..... Do you go at every single thread about Gruden just to **** on it? FTR I don't think it's realistic either at this point, but I also understand what this thread is and understand that maybe me being a jackass and making it a point to crash this parade is probably not needed.

I was thinking the same thing. He (or she) comes to a Gruden forum to tell us there's no way he's coming here. Why bother? Dude (or dudette), This is all we have left of this season. Why must you rain on our parade? If you feel you must, please use a different argument besides not his players, never coached college, or can't afford the buyout.

Johnny had me cracking up every time he spoke yesterday.

Yes and yes. Both of these points will make the difference. The money was there last time, but the administrative leadership wasn't. Now we have leadership AND more money? And people are clutching their pearls over Mike Freaking Bobo?

True. We are one more year with Butch Jones away from being back to 2012 financially and in talent.

He's got us on a parabolic trajectory.

So...he's a good coach, but not good enough to pursue? He makes as much sense as any other coach out there and a damn sight better than Mike Bobo, Frank Wilson and other names that have been mentioned. And frankly, I'm not going to melt down if (stress the if) the UT Admin gives it their best shot and comes up with another high caliber name like Kelly or Petersen instead.

Anyway, I'm just here for the free cookies.
