Who said he wasn’t a good coach? He also took the Raiders to the Super Bowl. I’m saying he wasn’t realistic after Fulmer and nearly a decade later he still isn’t. We do this every coaching search and then there’s a huge meltdown when he’s not the guy.

So...he's a good coach, but not good enough to pursue? He makes as much sense as any other coach out there and a damn sight better than Mike Bobo, Frank Wilson and other names that have been mentioned. And frankly, I'm not going to melt down if (stress the if) the UT Admin gives it their best shot and comes up with another high caliber name like Kelly or Petersen instead.

Anyway, I'm just here for the free cookies.

The entire, "won with Dungy's players" thing is so absurd. First off, he won. Tony Dungy didn't. Tony was a great coach and proved it in Indianapolis but the Bucs gave up draft picks to get Gruden. When have you seen that happen before?

Second, it's a GM who picks the players with some assistance from coaches.

Yes Rich McKay built the team, not Tony Dungy.

Considering that we’re 0/3 on big name hires since Fulmer left, you better not hold out for Kelly or Petersen either. No one thought Butch was even in the mix and bam they announce it and the board crashes. Kelly is the most realistic of the big name hires. I’ll say that.


UT going out and paying $6 million to get an elite proven head coach after paying out an entire staff buyout is something I’ll believe when I see it. Everyone knows this program has gone cheap many times in the past.

Just curious..... Do you go at every single thread about Gruden just to **** on it? FTR I don't think it's realistic either at this point, but I also understand what this thread is and understand that maybe me being a jackass and making it a point to crash this parade is probably not needed.

So many on the ledge because of something an obvious troll said last night didn?t work out.... what it has to do with it, is we have been saying from day one.... this is looking good but be patient..... if people would simply relax and enjoy the fun of this thread we can have a good time.

But no one is going to know for sure until it is announced.... we have said this at least 1000x ... that is the reference to the I want it now society we live in

Coasty, if I'm being honest, coming to this thread does provide a few giggles, but I ain't here for fun or a good time. I'm here for the Gruden info.

That said, I'm being patient (as I agree, we all should cause, what else can you do), trying to enjoy the ride, but if we don't get Gruden, I'm sure gonna be disappointed again ... which is the very reason so many are guarded and cautious.

We are hanging on every word of every person that seems to be an insider, cause we can't find out for ourselves. That leaves us feeling vulnerable and (again) guarded, trying not to have our hopes and dreams dashed again.

I think a lot of us feel this way.
So ... am i taking this too seriously?
