I like Gruden as much as the next guy but the reality is that he is also a gamble. He has been retired for a decade, never coached a college team nor had to recruit at this level. His NFL career was marginal at best, a little over .500 for his 11 yrs as head coach. Now I got that he is a Super Bowl coach but for argument sakes, Fulmer is a (1) National Championship, (2) SEC Champs, (5) SEC East Champs, and a College Football Hall of Famer. Not saying I want Fulmer back but as for coaching record, he blows Gruden out of the water and nobody wants Fulmer around our program. My point is, Fulmer is proven and people say he couldn’t bring us back to the glory days however, Gruden with much less success is a “homerun” hire. This is ridiculous, there are better names out there that are proven at the collegiate level.

We live in a culture that responds to flash then flash becomes real. The upside in this social media environment for CJG 5 years later now is exponentially better . He knows this imo...Everyone is about to make a lot of money.. And Mr Currie knows this.. Al and Tenn will flip in position in 4 years if CJG comes here

Yes, he is. Gruden took 50 brothers to Ruth Chris Friday night. Don't know about you, but we can't get out of that place for <$80 each.

Apparently AGR members (brothers?) are Smokey's handlers. Or something.

I just told the wife this info to get her riled up. We went Thursday night because our baby sitter had to change the day from Friday. She had a no lie missed the Gruden opportunity Meltdown. And then called her mom (the babysitter) to yell at her for changing the day she could watch the kid. :whistling:

You were right to tell her. Is your mother in law hot?

I honesty think that Currie is going to drag along Butch as long as he can. Just let him embarrass himself these next 2 away games, fire him after losing to Kentucky and at the same time announce the next coach.

In my opinion this could salvage the season from an excitement standpoint and still fill the stands if it’s a big time hire. I would love to be in Knoxville the first weekend of a home game knowing Gruden or some other big dog is our next coach.

I think from a morale standpoint, if he fired him now and announced an interim, the air would feel so much lighter in Knoxville. The longer he waits, the worse it is going to get.

You want us to call her mom too? Put the number out there, we'll do it! Messing with a Gruden opportunity is almost as bad as messing with a Paul Bain opportunity.
