Yeah, several like you are able to just enjoy the rumors and have a good time, others have issues. I really like the coaching style of Frost also and would be excited if we landed him or a few others.
Just don't like the hardcore "Grudenites" trying to convince average fans to snub their noses at those hires.

Some will be anti-coach notgruden from day 1. And the same agenda driven, player punching, dui receiving, drivel will start all over.

You're never pleasing all the fans. They'll be doubters if Gruden takes the job. They'll be doubters if Chip Kelly takes the job. They'd be doubters if Saban took the job.

Per Hyams, Tennessee offered Gruden a 6 year, 30 million dollar contract with incentives in 2012.

For comparisons sake, Nick Saban signed a deal worth 5.6 million the same year.

We were going to pay a top salary.

Throw between 7 and 8 at him this go round. Might as well.

Yep, the one glimmer of hope I have for Gruden is Manning. I really believe he would be the one that could convince Gruden.

If 2012 had never happened, we would all be on this like glue. IMO it's no coincidence Jon came back to be with his son at a home game in the middle of Butch's swan song at Neyland. Maybe the big boys have learned their lessons. As posted, Peyton having much more involvement and influence is a big deal. Chucky loves The Sheriff as well as UT.

Jon loves kids. He helped the HS team in Tampa. He has an annual coaching clinic/event at Dayton where he is an alum. He holds the QB camps. He coached at the collegiate level and knows what he would be getting into. It's OK to have hope that UT gets this right for once while keeping options open with other strong candidates. Frost is an obvious future elite HC for somebody.

As already posted - recruiting would be ridiculously easy. The economic benefits to do this are huge for everybody. It's all up to him.

I'm not sure there's a former player out there that Gruden respects any more than Peyton. Gruden is the one who started calling him the sheriff I think. What a dream scenario it would be if we got him in here. Him being the coach alone would get us back to relevance IMO.

Absolutely. But there's a big difference between not pleasing all the fans and having half of them in pre hate mode for no real reason.

And I know all fan bases have idiots but my God we have some vocal ones.
If people like the Twitter brigade go all in on the Gruden thing, it'll be just constant moaning and groaning from day one with anyone else.

I don’t get why everyone thinks Gruden would be such a good coach at TN. I remember him having good quarterback play, winning a Super Bowl with Dungy’s team, then loosing the locker room almost immediately afterwards until his team basically laying down on him 2 years later. And I don’t think Chip Kelly would last 2 years at TN before leaving. Plus I think his offense has had its day in the spotlight and now is just another offense that dc’s have learned to defend as well as everything else

I did not want them to fire Phil Fulmer.
I was right.

I wanted Sumlin.. we got Dooley.

I wanted Gruden or Cutcliffe -- We got Butch.

So many good choices now that would be an upgrade IMO.

This I was right every time update is brought to you by...

nothing on CBJ being gone and it is too early for any real action on a replacement. I still don't believe he is back next year but the last 24 hours there is some talk that Currie really would prefer not to have to do it this year. I think he would have a difficult time selling that line of thinking but that chatter has been out there..

What Larry just posted in the football forum

Because he would assemble an elite staff and get top 5 classes consistently. And if my calculations are correct that's about 85% of the winning formula on college football. The rest is not doing dumb **** like not running the ball 1 foot from the goal line.
