I certainly thought it was a legit possibility after he got fired from the 49ers. I don't see why anyone would have thought otherwise.

Now when he was at Stanford, I did expect him to go to the NFL. But I don't see why anyone would have been shocked he was going to Michigan after leaving San Francisco.

I think it’s the arrogance of a lot of nfl writers and commentators. They view the NFL as the be all and end all.
