That's what scares me of Frost. Will he bring in his UCF guys? Or will he bring in big name guys with him (I want him to keep shoop, Gillespie, Hoke, and Rock)

The difference in hiring Frost now compared to when Butch was hired is that he is already coaching in the south and that he has had great coaches with him at every level from college through his assistant coaching days. I firmly believe the first year staff under Frost will be better than Butch's first staff.

I guess we've already beaten it to death but the hires that would really get me fired up are.....

Gruden
Kelly
Frost
Patterson

Others out there I could learn to like but those would have me ready to go.

Yup, I have the same 4. I’m also higher on brohm then I think most others are. I would get excited abou Brohm, but I’ll admit, not as excited as I would the 4 mentioned above.

Mike Houston, with another Natty this year, would be at the top of the "realistic" list for me. Problem is that game won't be played until January.

Bring Butch to Murfreesboro!

#HireButchJones

I'm for it. Would be easy to tune him out seeing as how little coverage MTSU football gets in the media. And he'd probably win 8-10 games a year there.

I'd be pissed if he stole a single recruit that Tennessee wanted, though.

He's got a Brian Kelly career trajectory going. But Brian Kelly first had to stop at Central Michigan and Cincinnati before making it to South Bend.

3 seasons of D-II and 4 seasons of FCS to the SEC is a disaster waiting to happen.

Wouldn't it be a better
Comparison to Jim tressell?

The UCF staff is a mix of guys who were at Oregon who went along with Kelly to the Eagles, guys Frost has Nebraska ties (the RB coach was a grad assistant at UT in the late 90s), and some guys who've been a part of UCF's program for a while. It's a good mix and I have no reason to doubt he'd put together a top notch staff.

VN would literally meltdown if we hired Houston. He might not be a bad coach at all but he shouldn’t and won’t sniff the opening here.

Edit: Meant to quote the original post on Houston, not yours. Apologies

Yeah that's true. I forgot about Tressel, TBH. He was at Youngstown for a really long time and won 4 championships and played for two others there.

I think to even consider an FCS guy for such a big jump he needs to be utterly dominant for a long time at that level.

Imagine if Frost and UCF puts the same beat down on USF they’ve been putting on everyone else. He’ll be this year’s Herman for sure

He coaches his team with the same mentality as Tom Osbourne did....show no mercy on your opponent no matter who it is.

If he's able to put a beat down on you...He will.

That UCF team was 0-12 in 15. He's taken them from that to 6-7 and now to 5-0 in 2 short years. That's remarkable. The 3 best teams they've played this year....Maryland, Cinci, and Memphis....they've beat them by an average of 30 points. Their next opponent Navy will be a tricky game.

Pretty much all of the kids from O'Leary's 12-1 team were gone by the time Frost took over too.
