When CBJ goes, any keepers on staff?

I think that the new coach would do well to keep Rock, Shoop, Gillespie, and though not as O Line Coach...Walt Walt Wells needs to be kept for his in-state recruiting prowess.

Not too sure of retaining Wells. Depends on if he's being forced to run Jones' and Scott's blocking scheme which many on Vol Nation says is not that good of a scheme. I don't understand it myself. Some type of "zone blocking" that inhibits our blockers.
Shoop being in just his 2nd year and seeing some improvement makes me wonder if we should not name him or Hoke as HC. There's quite a few good offensive mined coaches that would be a good fit but not sure if we name them HC or OC. I'm hoping we are looking at all the angles. We need a good offensive guy who'll stick around a while and not see this as a "passing job or to build up his resume."
By keeping Shoop we keep the continuity going on defense and have some good commitments coming in on defense, particularly on the line. We need another LBer or 2.

Depends on the HC hire. I could see Kelly or Petrino or some of these other offensive guys retaining Shoop and Warren...depending on how we finish down the wire.

I hope the new coach does whatever he can to keep Coach Gillespie.

My dream scenario would be to get...

HC: Chip Kelly
OC: Helfrich/ or whoever Kelly chooses
DC: Shoop (Full control of the defense)

Keep Gillespie and Warren. I think there has been a pretty good improvement with our DB's this year.

If Kelly isn't an option then I'd like to see us get an offensive minded coach like Brohm, Frost, Fuente, etc. Then keep Shoop as DC. Tbh though, I bet Shoop will want to be as far away as he can from Knoxville after the disaster he came into.

Coaches like Brohm, Fuente, and Frost really excite me because they've all ran successful offensives, and really know how to coach QB's up, something that we've really been lacking for a while.

You know what would also be cool to see? I'd love to see Shoop's defense in the second half when they're actually not tired, and haven't been on the field for 75% of the game.

Why does anyone think Shoop is anything special? Do people not realize Penn State improved without him and we took a major step back?

The only one of l I'd be upset about keeping would be Thigpen. You can make an argument for all the rest. Smith can't be oc.

whelp. Here's the truth.

Any assistant staff, like coordinators, are going to get a buy out until the end of the year by my understanding. So that''s 9 mill. for Jones plus his assistants + another 5 mill. plus what ever agency or third party you pay, plus incidentals. Then you have to pay another coach and assistants. The real cost of a new head coach is 60 mill or more. That is way cheaper then most, but may be more then Curry was expecting to pay. It's a thing where quiet and privacy are at a premium. Curry may be shopping around, but if you are really connected, you won't know about it yet. It's my Belief that the press knows something but doesn't or cant say yet.
