Are you against Petrino just based on the fact that he is kind of a POS human? I care about winning, and if his wife is okay with it, I don't care what he does in his private life. Apparently, she's alright enough that she's still with him.

More because I want Gruden and Petrino seems to be the rumor of the day.
And I just don't get a good feeling about him.

From my experience in the corporate world, there are many similarities in identifying a successful executive manager and head coach.
The most important aspects of being a successful executive manager (head coach) are:
1. Developing and motivating each coach/player so that they perform at their highest level.
2. Recognizing the strengths/weaknesses of each individual coach/player.
3. Putting coaches/players in positions that maximize their strengths, while helping them to improve on their weaknesses.
4. Mentoring your coaches/players so that they can maximize their potential, even if their success exceeds your personal success. Recognizing that their success is a key indicator of your ability to lead/teach/develop.
5. Ability to adapt your strategies and methods (system and process) to a changing environment based on the strengths of your coaches/players and the weaknesses of your competition.

IMO …
• Jones has failed in these elements of executive management at the competitive P5 level. He has been unable to effectively motivate/develop/utilize the amount of talent at his disposal at the coaching and player level.
• My perception from an outside perspective is that Gruden seems to exhibit the skills/knowledge necessary to be successful in these 5 areas.
• It has been the failure of our university leadership in applying these 5 areas of a success in identifying the last 3 head coaches.

It seems that those in charge this go round are actually applying executive level success principals in trying to get it right. I hope they get it right.

IAGL. YBH.

We all want Gruden! Just wondering. So many people hate him based on his personal life. He is a bit of a mess, but I do like him as a coach.
