Finebaum is not a Grudenite.

Gruden would not have to put a whole lot of effort into the recruiting side to be honest. He's Jon Gruden. They'll come to campus just to meet him. He'll flash some of his winsome personality and they'll be signing on the dotted line.

Ridiculous. If Saban/Harbaugh/Meyer aren't beneath recruiting, neither is Gruden. Gruden can coach Andrew Luck or he can find and groom the next Andrew Luck. There has to be something exciting for a coach to find, recruit, groom, coach, etc a future NFL star.

I believe the timing on Butch is connected to Gruden. If Currie can work it out with Gruden, Butch will be gone sooner. Only Gruden, kelly, and stoops could start early. Most head coaches and assistants stay until the end of regular season. I believe Currie wants his guy in place before letting Butch go publicly.
