Brohm May Be Running at Tennessee

Once Petrino is out at Louisville, he will be their first call

This would be my biggest fear with Brohm. Otherwise, I think he would be one of the top 2 or 3 "up and comers" that UT could land. Certainly worth consideration if Gruden, Kelly, or Patterson are no-gos.:good!:

The guy is 3-3 at Purdue...What exactly is appealing about him?...He is more than likely going to have a losing record at Purdue this year...I don't get it

That's what Tennessee does. Losing doesn't matter to our administration. That's why Butch is still on campus today.

I only see someone who has potential. He is not in the class of Patterson, Miles, Petrino,by a long shot. Just would be another disappointment.

Petrino would be competitive until he ran off with one of the cheerleaders and got caught running a casino on campus. NCAA would love to throw us under the bus or bury us with sanctions.

I love how people are pointing to 3-3 at Purdue like that's a bad thing. Would you consider him a better coach if he were 3-3 at Ohio State?

If you don't like him, fine... but at least take some time to consider what he's been asked to do before criticizing his record. Soooo many posters on here don't understand context.

I never said it was a bad thing but the poster I was replying to compared Brohm's potential hire to Saban, Meyer, Stoops, and Shanahan. Read my post.

Brohm is not worth the 20 million dollars in buyout money between Butch, Butch's assistants, and Brohm's Purdue Buyout.

Pass. Honestly, I don't want a coach who would bolt from a job in year 1.

Finebaum's guest co-host (female and I didn't catch her name) providing better analysis than the host. Says she doubts Currie, who wouldn't run off Snyder in Kansas, will make a change before regular season's over. No mention of the Basilio rumors. The way this is going we may not be competitive for years.

No we re not. We're getting creamed because we aren't retaining and developing the talent we re bringing in. Yes we need to be able to recruit at a high level, but once word gets out that a competent developer of talent is in charge the recruiting will take care of itself. Brohm is definitely an intriguing name.
Last I checked, Clemson took the cream off the top of our 2017 class. Bama can still get pretty much anyone they want in this state. Brohm is a can of corn. Not even Del Monte or Golden Nibblers. Just plain ole store brand corn. Not what we need.

Another up and comer. No thanks

He's not an up and comer dammit!! lol He's a Power 5 head coach who is about to win 8 games in the nation's toughest conference. Who would have thought PURDUE, who won 3 games last year, would go 8-4 and manage to not get blown out by anybody? This is James Franklin type stuff we're seeing.

And actually what I said was that sometimes it works out to end up with your backup. I never compared Brohm to Saban or Meyer (although honestly I do believe that he and Campbell are both going to be stars.)

Are you one of those people who wears a safety helmet to go outside and check the mailbox?

He has never been in trouble with the NCAA. Now, trouble with Mrs. Petrino is another story...

Brohm's buyout is only $4M...

5 Million before December 5th, which is well past the regular season.

If we hired Brohm, we are hiring him the minute the regular season is over which is last weekend in November. That means we pay that buyout which is 5 milllion.

Also, if we are going to play semantics, Brohm is still not worth the 19 million dollars in buyout money.

They could also be flashes in the pan. UT can be elevated or ruined for the next 10-20 years with this hire. Why won't they consider aiming for the highest level? Make all the proven winners turn you down before bargain shopping.

1) Our recruiting rankings over the last 4 classes show that recruiting is clearly the least of our concerns?

2) If you feel so strongly about it, then who's your guy? None of the 7-8 top names being discussed (Kelly, Gruden, Patterson, Petersen, Fuente, Petrino, Cooter,) have track records as outstanding college recruiters.
