But Nebraska is home for him, where he played, and where he led them as a player to their most recent national championship. If his heart is what drives Frost, then he will end up there. If not, Tennessee has as good of a chance as any to get him.

I’m concerned about UF potentially throwing their hat in the ring for Frost if McIlwain tanks. He already recruits the state and I’m sure he has given thought to how fertile and the ease to instate recruiting in Gainesville.

Business decisions like that are best made with your head, not your heart.

There just aren't that many big hires available, and a lot of the top names are going to consider factors other than money. And there could be other deep pocket programs in the market, making it even more competitive.

IMO, some programs that appeared ready to make a move will decide to hang on to their coaches another year. Under different circumstances, UT probably would have preferred to wait, too.

I could see UT waiting until next year for this very reason. There really aren't a lot of good candidates out there that would be ready for a move this year.

Butch's resume when he was hired is far superior to the realistic candidates being discussed (Frost, Brohm, etc.). So if a Gruden, Patterson or Kelly isn't going to happen, then why not wait another year?

Everybody but me and baldbiker. I found out he has his own pilot, I am trying to get on his good side.

Has the plane/pilot thingie been confirmed? So far, it sounds an awful lot like internet chatter.

I was really hoping my career as a non-idiot lasted longer than 4 posts...

Cause it's over for him. He is a dead man walking. Program suicide to bring him back now.

Can't believe there's still a couple people still fearing he will be here next year. For the most part though everyone realizes it is over. That's why we haven't seen the "Butch got a DUI last night" bs rumors any more. People are now calmed down since they realize he's done.

I’ve been critical of Currie not firing butch but after reading that thing from thamel I get it. Kind of.

If Currie has fired butch, but come to an agreement that if he lets butch finish the season then they won’t have to pay the full buyout in return for letting butch “resign”, then I’m ok with how he’s handling the situatiom.

I don't see a path forward for UT and CBJ. The longer he stays, the less support he has. It's a bad marriage just waiting for the papers to be signed.

Here's a quote from someone in FF

"Knew guys that went to dinner with him on Friday. Gruden said that he has bought a house here, plans on helping a couple fraternities on campus with funding and said if he got offered the job it’d be hard to turn down. TIFWIW. Supposed to mention AGR on MNF tonight. Check my stats. Let’s go."

Another poster just said the same as well. RonJovi, I think.

"Spoke to my friend. Said basically what I've read in here. Butch is gone, working on a leaving date. BoT, mega boosters, faces of the program etc agree to spend and agree on making a big offer to a certain party. There is less agreement on other individuals regarding personality/fit/past issues that will have to be worked through if certain party is not interested in the job. Some are win and let the chips fall where they may if a future incident happens and others are more concerned about perception based on past events or level of experience of certain parties. No names were given to me at all on who the one individual was nor on who else might be being looked at down the line in the event that falls through. Said the process was much more cohesive at the top than last time but there's always going to be disagreements to some level among power players regarding who ultimately lands here."

Any chance Butch would have had to get through a 6-6 or 5-7 year without losing his job has been eliminated with his gameday coaching and what he has said in the media. He desperately needs someone to show him how to do both a whole lot better if he is ever going to get to be a head coach again.
