The kids got a peak at their Christmas present this weekend, but it isn't even Halloween yet. The waiting is going to be a b1tch.

Anyone think we'll get any news tomorrow?

Don't think so.

It's now become an economical chess game IMO. Jones doesn't want to be here, but he wants his $. How bad he wants out, and Curries willingness to let him flap in the wind will determine how long. Game of chicken so to speak.

Part of this should be finding the guy that kept claiming he had inside information 4+ years ago when Butch was hired, and that Gruden was a lock, blah, blah, blah, blah.

That guy fooled quite a few rubes on here, seemingly the majority.

That guy should be found and severely beaten. :)

Disclaimer...this is not actually advocating violence. But that person was a stupid (censored) and those of you who fell for his BS should govern yourselves a bit better this time.

I got the go ahead to share some information that I started to tell last night. It's solid info from a close friend.

As I said last night, Butch will be the coach against Alabama. From what I have been told, the GOAL people close to the situation is to have a replacement in place when Butch is fired. They hope to have this completed by the time we play LSU. Based on this, and this part is a guess, I expect Butch to be followed on either the Sunday or Monday following the LSU game, presuming we lose.

I was told that Gruden will undoubtedly be offered the heading coaching position at Tennessee if they receive enough interest after gauging him through back channels and the decision to go after Gruden first is "as close to unanimous as it gets". None of these things are ever completely unanimous. UT will also do their due dillegence and gauge the interest of other coaches in case they can not land Gruden. Either way, they seem determined to have someone in place immediately following the end of the regular season. My source has no idea who they'll pursue in addition to Gruden but says there are three names being floated around that it definitely won't be (Kelly, Stoops, Miles).

Now for some semi-bad news, he did say he believes that them making a very attractive offer to Gruden doesn't mean that they'll definitely go after high dollar guys after him. In truth, he really has no idea whether or not the hire will be a good one if it is not Gruden.

This is pretty much all common knowledge at this point, nothing too groundbreaking, but he isn't as in the know as he once was and isn't as concerned about me sharing things because of it.

So Gruden or bust? That's a dangerous game that we're playing. Thanks for the info

I don't think that is necessarily the case. It's just that he doesn't know either way, or even have a clue. So he was just telling me that it COULD be that way. Sorry if I made it seem otherwise.

Is Thunder Thornton still in the know? I fish with a good friend of his but have not talked to him. But have thought about calling him. Just not sure Thunder is still involved in decision making.

Yep. Plus he's 64 freaking years old. Why would you hire a coach that old when you know there's no longevity. You'll just be hiring someone else a few years down the road.

EDIT: There was supposed to be a quote attached, but didn't show up for some reason. This was about Les Miles.

Now back to Gruden

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Currie the one wanting to go after Gruden when Hamilton hired Kiffin?
