What category was Kirby upon his hire? Doubt it fell under GREAT...doubt it still does. Point is hiring a great head coach lies more with potential. Most whove EARNED the label aint moving. Take your McElwain mention. Why didnt Florida just hire a great HC to start with?![]()
Fans may have been grumbling, but the crowd showed up for the most part at Neyland yesterday. They were respectful. Vols fans are the best. Neyland may not be as intimidating as it use to be, but it's not on us.
Can't even think about hiring him. Big bad NCAA will hammer us. Hell, you saw what they did to UNC! They don't play around.
The NCAA's verdict on UNC, combined with the shoe company corruption scandal, reveals just how much of joke that organization has always been. I think eventually the larger conference schools will cut ties.
I think a competent coach could have put him in better situations . He has a cannon. Quick passes . No imagination on the coaching staff. Kinda makes you wonder if Dormady is also a victim of the staff.
A mutually agreed resignation now makes the most sense to me. Allows UT to get some excitement stirred up about a new coach and perhaps salvage a recruiting class. Also allows Butch to exit and maybe find another job. It's thin I know but it is only going to get worse for both parties.
