I suspected Kirby would be big trouble at the beginning, but last season, thought maybe not. Unfortunately I think my first thought was correct

JG looked far better in this scheme than Dormady ever did. Wonder what would have happened if he had gotten the nod from the get go this season what our conversation would be? Another horrible personnel decision by Butch as usual. Hopefully when we get out of church there is an announcement that we can be happy about,but I'm not counting on it. I just don't understand why they would continue letting this drag on-to have more privacy to talk to other coaches? Because other than that,there is no explanation right now.

Fans may have been grumbling, but the crowd showed up for the most part at Neyland yesterday. They were respectful. Vols fans are the best. Neyland may not be as intimidating as it use to be, but it's not on us.

It has not been my experience that anything will change with the VIP group no matter who makes the call as to what is happening at the time. BB excluded, it's just who they are as people and I dealt with some in the past in business before retiring. Maybe this mess is a wake-up call. Maybe. After the last decade of foolishness you would think it might. Hope they pleasantly surprise. But I'm not holding my breath in wild anticipation until I see the new coach at the presser.

Fully expecting another wannabe that they hope to hit with and use the media to sell, which lowers my expectations. Now is their opportunity to go big and put that thinking in the past. If they go up and comer there are a few that qualify as future program building legacy coaches. They are much more qualified than Butch or Dools have ever been. So there is a good shot it could all turn out well if they have learned their lessons.

Fair there wasn't a lot to be excited about yesterday but the fans did get into it when we could.

The NCAA's verdict on UNC, combined with the shoe company corruption scandal, reveals just how much of joke that organization has always been. I think eventually the larger conference schools will cut ties.

Maybe we'll look back at Butch as our poor man's Richt. Get the program to a place where a better coach can take it to the next level.

I hope so. Would love to see closer to a minor league type system where players get more money and schools are a partner with the system, not the entire system itself. If you think about it, the education system really has no business owning a minor league sports system.

A mutually agreed resignation now makes the most sense to me. Allows UT to get some excitement stirred up about a new coach and perhaps salvage a recruiting class. Also allows Butch to exit and maybe find another job. It's thin I know but it is only going to get worse for both parties.

I liked a lot of what I saw but I didn't see much quickness in delivery. To me, neither QB gets the ball out quickly

Actually there was nothing The NCAA could have done to UNC unless they found that the athletes were receiving extra benefits like money or gifts. NCAA rules leave academic issues up to the school.

Read Mark Titus' article in The Ringer about why UNC athletics weren't punished in the "paper class" scandal. It's pretty sensible, really. It doesn't make me feel any better about the NCAA's effectiveness but I don't think there was much it could do in this case

Did Larry really say a move probably won't be made until at least Halloween? If they don't fire him after the Bama game next week it's absolutely ridiculous.
