...doesn't want to be coach at Tennessee next season?

All of these debates to fire him or not to fire him but has anyone considered he might not even want to be here?

Is it true that he was pursuing the Purdue job last year?

I'm not saying this is what's really going on but I think we can all agree that something seems to be off this year.

I’m pretty sure it’s understood he doesn’t want to coach here.

Ryan Callahan on 247 said he put out feelers last year.

Why do you care? You want him gone anyway.

I said previously our worst case scenario is he saves his job then pulls a Dooley and we scrambling for a coach after good ones taken...

he likely does not but he will not walk away from the buyout unless he can get a comparable deal elsewhere

I agree, Jones is gone one way or the other. Either he gets fired in the next three weeks, or he rallies to 7-5 or 8-4 and jumps ship to somewhere like Oregon State, or one of the Arizona schools where football isn't so important to the local community.

Butch never intended on staying here from the beginning, he thought he would come in here, rebuild Tennessee in 4 years or so and then jet to the NFL.

If he doesn’t want to be at UT and Currie wants to go in a new direction, then hopefully they reach a agreement that is mutually beneficial and avoid ugliness (at least publicly).

I'm just curious what others think about the possibility we could be arguing amongst ourselves over nothing.

For all any of us know Butch may have already let it be known to Currie that he's on the first train out of town if the opportunity arises.

I think he would rather get fired and get the buy out and bonus monies.

If you can't stand the heat get outta the kitchen or do not enter in the first place. Big time CFB is a helluva challenge.

Think you are on to something. Those daily phone calls they supposedly are having could contatin those type discussions

should he walk away from U.T., he would lose money that would be owed him. Also, as for last season, he likely acted interested in the Purdue job, so as to get a raise to entice him to stay.
What college in their right mind, that is a Power program want to hire him, if he walks away from U.T.?
I am sure that currently no other program is interested in him. So, he would have no place to go if he did leave UNLESS he became a positon coach in the NFL (See Derick Dooley)

From what I've heard, his wife was wanting them to leave after last year. Similar situation to Counzo Martins wife. They just don't like living where their family is treated poorly. I don't blame her. It is, by no means, the entire fanbase but I wouldn't wanna deal with it either. My wife would have forced me to leave last year too lol. I think he's either fired or walks at the end of the year.

Fired or not, he is gone after season. He will walk into a job that becomes available once the carousel starts. Memphis, UCF, or Colorado for example.
I personally think he will be let go after Bama week, after two more beat downs.
