The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

These are private owners of a business determining how to run their own business. Not a brutal regime. If the players don't like it, they don't have to play

I've never said otherwise. They are determining whether they want to run their business like the countries we constantly criticize, and our President is pressuring them to do so. They have the right to do that if they wish

You realize the players could force the owners hand. Ban the protest and the players could unite and that would be the end. If Dak Prescott, Dez Bryant and Zeke Elliot kneeled we'd find out how strong Jerry's resolve really was. I imagine we'd find out it was mostly show.

These darn facts keep getting in the way of these statist idiots’ argument.

I know you think it's fun to call others statists, but in this instance isn't it better suited to you?

Central government telling private businesses how to operate? Those pesky details that screw up your argument.

Your beef with Iran might be that they make their soccer team stand for the national anthem, but most everyone else couldn't care less.

But they won't

It’s sad not fun. Keep ignoring those details, statist.

Well, you using the word "tell" or "telling" implies force. At the end of the day, the players can do whatever the owners allow them to do, and the President can tell them there could be consequences and call them out on it. I guess I am not seeing the true problem for either the government or the President at this stage. Not sure what point you are even driving at -- I mean you seem up tight that someone is calling them out for what they really are.

They would be more of a "private business" in my book, if they weren't getting "public" funding and special treatment.

You mean like the owners have put an end to it?

OMG, Roger Goddell is literally Hassan Rouhani

You must mean where he threatened to pull federal tax breaks. The biggest federal tax break that benefits the NFL is the one where businesses are allowed to deduct the price of their suites and tickets.

Pull it all, actually the biggest benefit they have is the anti-trust exemption - without that the NFL doesn't even exist in its present form.

So, you've abandoned your argument that no threats were made to the one that says make threats... no F that... make bigger threats.

Me think you doth protest too much. Deep down... like testes on the chin deep down, you really are a fan of Trump.

I think you are a crying baby. You are going off the deep end and doubt anyone is impressed. It is well within the limits of the government to pull benefits for any reason or without one -- you can call it anything you want. Let me give you a clue, it doesn't matter.

I have no argument, most of what I present is obvious observations.

It is well within the limits for the stupid children players to take a knee, if their masters allow them too. It is well within the governments right to pull funding or extra benefits -- which I have constantly said should be done even before this child behavior started.

I am not sure what your problem is to be honest, you mad bro -- well you can rage all you want at me but that has no bearing on any of this. (easy observation)

You stated a position. I presented you obvious observations and you retreated from that position and now you have stated that you have no argument (no opinion) only observations. Well here's another observation... if the masters allow the negroes to kneel and the government pulls exemptions, tax breaks etc in response, doesn't that violate free speech protections?

Since we are just observing and all.

BTW, I seldom get angry and I certainly haven't raged at you. What I have done is poke fun at your observations.

Of course not, the government (really The People) can pull all funding and the anti-trust exemption. They (NFL, players, owners, coaches, etc) are still free to say what they want. Free speech != free stuff

LOL

There is nothing complex about this -- the players are free to be able to kneel, hide in the toilet, hide behind asses, stand, do a hand stand - if the owners allow it. Government can pull the benefits whether they decide to do those things or not.

If the govt does it in response to the exercise of free speech, you've got issues.
