John Currie possibly has already lost faith from the boosters?

Overall W/L shouldn't matter with Butch in this case. Look as his league record and record vs ranked teams and rivals.

He has 3 wins vs our 3 rivals in 14 games. That is horrible.

Anyone who thinks Butch still deserves to be the HC is insane.

The conference is what matters. Beating OOC teams can't help you, but it sure can hurt. You get judged here on who you beat in the SEC.

Don't read into this right now. I would prefer silence and hopefully bringing people together quietly to figure out what to do. I would prefer he quietly talk to other coaching candidates and have everything ready when he lets Butch go. As opposed to fire Butch, start a very public coaching search...

My belief is he is lining up the boosters and others to get behind his candidates.

For Butch, I think he stays until after the Kentucky games. If he loses to Kentucky then will be gone.

In this case right now, silence is good even though it is driving us crazy.

No news, is good news!

OP and anyone agreeing with him is just over-thinking what's not known, causing unnesessary worrying. Currie's a smart guy and understands the onus placed on him to really, really do this hire right. It's his primary hook onto which to hang his coat, and doing this right will allow the big buck boosters to gravitate in his direction and back his subsequent decisions with lotsa' money. Since it's only common sense that he times his moves so as to wind up with a top ten recruiting class and a splash hire that won't only excite the fan base from the get-go, but a coach who will actually produce championship trophies and generate millions more to further upgrade the facilities and the program's PR. Did you read this, John. I hope so.

Fire him. Fire all of them. DePeitro, Davenport, and Currie. Fire them before 3 PM so we can see it reported on the evening news.

It's obvious OP doesn't know what he's talking about. He demonstrates some anger over a supposed extension that hasn't even occurred. Therefore this entire thread is bs and a waste. If our new AD were to give CBJ a raise and another extension it would revertebrate all over the SEC and this forum would go beserk. There's a term,"performance" that needs to be weighed before any financial compensation is merited. Based on performance,CBJ is overpaid,IMO. Our AD will do good in whatever decision he makes. We need to be patient.

Butch has become a punch line, but many of the shots writers are taking at him are unwarranted. Similar to the trash can that is used by many teams. Many are just cheep shots by noname sports writers to get clicks. What is worse, so called TN fans go read these articles and pour gas on the fire. If you think TN needs a new coach that is fine, but keep it in the family. My brother may be a moron, but only I get to call him that.

Jones has doubled down on the silly stuff. It matters none if his football team is where it needs to be. He has a knack for throwing gas on his own fire.

Here is something that I am concerned with the non-action being a deeper issue. The worst thing for Tennessee right now is not firing a coach that's incompetent at his job and now being shot full of holes in every word he speaks by the national media.
This is damaging the Tennessee brand and Turing the university into a laughing stock of college football because of one man Butch Jones. What could be a possible reason for the non-action from John Currie? The reason to let one coach damage your brand and not take action that makes the most sense is scary for a bigger picture for Tennessee.
Butch wanted to get an extension as soon as Currie was hired. Currie didn't do it said he wanted to take a look at things and then make a decision. So...
1. What did Currie see that made him have confidence in Butch Jones? (Looking back from 2015 Butch Jones blew game, after game with bad coaching decisions) players were in positions to win games then lost with bad timeouts, not calling a timeout, 3&outs with no run plays with leads in games. Going for 2, not going for 2. You name it Butch Jones made the mistake. And the biggest concern in 2015 season is he never learned from those mistakes. Had double digit leads in 4th quarter of every game.
2. Move on to the 2016 season. Early season despite games Tennessee should have won by 2-3 touchdowns based on talent. Players were missused, not used, bad play calling, predictable play calling, not using timeouts, using timeouts at wrong times, not going for 2 when you should. Yes exact same issues from 2015 makes same calls not learning from his mistakes.

So Currie looks at the program under Jones. All of these mistakes Butch continues to make are there on tape. Everyone knows you can't hide from your tape.

So after seeing the tape (Currie has not been here to watch first hand the level of incompetence from Butch Jones) He decides he wants to give Butch Jones an extension!!! For what reason after reviewing Butch Jones tape?? So with that head scratching decision to give him an extension as a new AD, who everyone was waiting on to get here to do one thing.... FIRE BUTCH JONES and bring in "his" guy. Then as AD John Currie has to go to the boosters and talk them into an extension for Butch Jones.
Now here we are just a few months later. And he is needing to talk them into firing, just a few months after talking them into extension.
Very concerning on a couple levels. One that would cause major problems with trust in Currie with the boosters.

And most concerning for us as fans. He saw the tape on Butch Jones and offered and EXTENSION to him this year. I don't have absolute faith in John Currie to even hire the right guy based on this. Hopeful it's taken out of his hands, with a search committee or someone else do it for him. Either way this likely scenario could explain what's going on right now with the lack of action at Tennessee.

Hopefully Tennessee makes the right moves here but based on actions from John Currie. I am worrried about the direction, and the decision making from the AD office once again.

So your source is your own thread?

So do you think that Butch's replacement should be fired because next year's record will probably be bad?

The administration needs to hire a real coach. Not some bumbling idiot. Think about this. From Fulmer on, what UT coach was sought after? Kiffin is the only one. Saban wanted him now he is a head coach. No one is wanting butch even last season. So yea, hire a good coach, a smart one, I'll deal with one bad season.

Maybe Currie is already working on a new hire. *****erVol is arguing that Currie is negligent because he hasn't removed Butch yet.
