Cade Mays

It’s actually quite the opposite. These kids are opening up recruitment bc of fear Butch is being fired. He recruited them. They want to play for him, not the next coach.

So, they want to be on a mediocre team for the next 3-4 years? Makes sense...

I'm sorry you are not intelligent enough to know how this works. Currie just can't fire Butch. Sure he's AD but he can't do it on his own.

You can't fix stupid.

I don’t think anyone is pretending that Currie can do whatever he wants without talking to the boosters. That said, you’re fooling yourself if you think the idea of replacing Butch is some new novel idea the people in power have never talked about.

Put it this way, do you think Currie would have taken this job if he didn’t expect to hire a new football coach?

How do you know that the commits are saying they want to look around to open up the eyes of those responsible at UT in hopes that we'll fire Butch and get someone else?

He doesn't know. He's just giving his opinion. I'm with you by the way, I think they'd rather play for another coach and won't come to UT if CBJ stays.

That’s counterintuitive. If he wants to play for TN, wouldn’t matter who the coach is.

Please ask Vonn Bell about that.

And so you are saying that if Butch is fired then all of the recruits will decommit and go where ever he lands?

I mean who are you going to get in the middle of the season that's not named Chip Kelly? No coach is going to leave their team in the middle of the season.

Which is exactly why Kelly makes sense
No buyout either

I will put it this way, the Haslams do wield quite a bit of power, however Currie was given decision making power on firing/hiring. Of course he has to run it by the "board", but he has more power than you think.
And by the way the Haslams aren't sitting around only worrying about the UT coaching situation, they have quite a bit on their plate, that is why Currie was brought in. Call me a troll, don't really care, but this is true. Book it! (sorry, just had to throw that one in there).

Believe Mays was at Alabama this weekend.

Mayes is overrated anyway... he had 3 holding penalties in the Maryville game, no way he is a 5*.

There will more. Players read message boards. They see the hate being spewed at the Butch Jones, and even his wife.

Some current players will also be transferring. Do you want to lose Trey Smith? It's possible.

Tennessee will be in another 5 year rebuilding plan if Butch is fired.

I believe you believe it but that doesn't make your post accurate. Players reading message boards is not the reason these kids may leave. It's lack luster position coaching and even worse game time.

Opening up his recruitment doesn't necessarily mean he won't sign with us. It just means he probably wants to wait and see who replaces Butch Jones, that's all. I don't blame him (if true). I'd probably do the same thing.

Exactly. But what it does mean is that he's looking to have additional options. Imo if we were to keep butch we'd likely lose him as well as a bunch of other recruits as they'd see butch as a lame duck coach

Yup, anyone with half a brain knows that Butch is finished. It does nothing but harm to allow this to drag out. Why prolong the inevitable?

To save 2mil....that got be only reason it sums up our program always about money never what best for kids and winning

Aren't Helfrich and Kelly both unemployed? That's an immediate upgrade at HC and OC. I mean I know the players would struggle with a new offense being installed but it can't be worse that's the crap on the field.

Recruits see the writing on the wall. Currie will screw this up and this class will utterly fall apart.

If Currie allows us to lose a guy like Mays, then he can pack his bags along with Butch and hit the freaking road.

Not will brother they already have

I hate to say it but I really cannot blame him. The OL coaching here is putrid and has been since Butch arrived. I am sure Mays wants to play for a program that gives him a chance to win big and get into the NFL. He just doesnt have either one of those here at mediocre U.

Freaking amen to that we have alabama talent in our starters and they are awful...its just unbelievable the ineptitude of this staff

Real question is are kids decomitting because uncertainty of staff or lack of coaching and development and want play for winning team
