Funny. It's not predicting the future, it's looking at trends. And I'm not liking what I'm seeing.

The 2018 class is a very good one so far, but it needs to be great. I have concerns about that happening if we continue to look like we do.

Cool. I just don't fire someone until it has to be done. I don't get caught up in predicting what will happen.

I have a question about Currie's level of participation in day to day team activities. Is he on the practice field? Ever in the locker room?

The reason I ask is I'm curious if he knows EXACTLY what's going on behind the scenes bc that could have a huge impact on his decision making. Is he talking to assistant coaches?

I agree. It's all a big piece of the pie. We have struggled with talent evaluation and development. Clemson is a big exception cause they probably have the best talent development and evaluation. And their coaching staff is one of if not the best in the country.

Once again I will direct you to Michigan. Was there a misevaluation of talent when Brady Hoke couldn't win with top 10 talent but then Jim Harbaugh comes along and has those same players within a 4th down stop from beating Ohio State in the horse shoe?

You guys need to stop trying to make excuses for Butch Jones. In last 3 years, we have not been out talented in a single one of our losses. Even the annihilation last year at the hands of Alabama was largely because of injuries. Most of our losses the last 3 years have been close games where we make a few mistakes whether its coaching or players not making plays. That is not a sign of a lack of talent or player development. That is poor coaching.

Give us a good coach and those close wins over subpar teams like App State become blowouts. And close losses to Florida because of coaching errors become close wins.

Butch Jones is the problem. PERIOD.

I'm not talking about their expectations.

If you're going to base expectations on what you lose shouldn't you also look at everyone else and their situations?

Sure, but the season isn't over yet. If we go 7-5 or worse, then it can be discussed. I just don't know how one game factors into this discussion right.

I just want to look on the field and see a team that I think is reasonably well coached.

Instead of telling everyone over and over again how ridiculous they are how about some counterpoints? How about telling people why they are wrong to question Butch. Tell us what you see that's so promising.

As I see that you just take everything I say as an attack with no substance let me clarify for you:

Do I think CBJ is the guy? I have my doubts sure. I want to be wrong and I want him to win here. Do I think I need to talk who the new coach is or how much he sucks right now when we are 3-1 and face the #7 team? No I do not.

I was with Dooley until we lost that infamous game in KY because it was 100% clear he had lost the team so bad that they would rather lose and break a streak than play an extra game. Same for Fulmer and Wyoming. Has this team met that criteria? Right now not even close, even though they are facing far more negativity right now thanks to online idiots and social media.

I will pull for the Vols with all I have Saturday and if we lose the sun will come up and I will move on and hope we can right the ship before Scar because they have some serious payback coming. The only way I will not feel that way is if I see the team has quit but so far I have seen a team fight tooth and nail in the two games they had to and come up just short in one of those. This is college football and a team can find a spark to propel them on a winning streak at any time. I for one want to be there if they do.

I hope he's not talking to assistant coaches. Butch is their boss. They shouldn't be talking to Currie unless Butch is engaging in something that could bring down the team/program.

Cant just look at Clemson look at the other teams that have gotten to the playoffs consistently.

OSU top 5 every year for last 4 years.
FSU top 5-10 in recruiting every year.
BAMA number one every year.
Clemson best coaching staff, talent evaluation and development but top recruiting in their conference.

It's all part of it. It's not everyday you see teams that recruit in the 15-30 range every year make it to the playoffs every year.

First of all when has Florida State made the playoffs every year? They made it once. The first year. Since then, they've been one of the most disappointing teams in the country losing consistently to teams they have more talent than. This year being a continuation of that trend. LSU is another team like Florida State that consistently has top 5 talent but is always underachieving. LSU and Florida State prove that elite coaching is just as important as elite talent. You can't have a great team without both.

Ohio State made it to the playoffs two of the last three years but I think we would all agree that the selection last year was dubious. They didn't even win their division. They made it because of their name brand not because they deserved it.

Alabama is really the only model of consistency in college football when it comes to playing up to what the recruiting rankings say you are. They are always ranked number one in both rankings. I think that mostly proves that Nick Saban is a great coach. Not that the recruiting rankings are always correct.

Teams that consistently recruit in the top 10 have roughly the same talent level. The difference comes in coaching. The reason Alabama and Ohio State succeed more than LSU and Florida State isn't that they have more talent. Its because they have better coaches.

I think the thing that pushed people over the edge is how we lost to Florida. We were clearly the better, more talented team. Plus the fact that many on here thought it'd be an easy win. The coaching wasn't very good in that game, we should have won by a decent amount. It doesn't help that the players messed up plays, which falls on the coaches for not having them better prepared. I think if Florida came out and just straight up out played us and Butch had a good day coaching then the coaching search discussion would be a lot less

It would not exist outside the same few.

Cool. I've seen what I need to see. He obviously won't be fired until it "needs to be done" according to Currie. You and I have no say in that.

Thank you sir. That post has substance and yes, I do think 99% of what you've been posting the past week or so has lacked substance and has just been attacks on other posters.

I was foolishly on the Dooley train longer than you were, making excuses, hoping for the best. I guess I just don't have that same level of intestinal fortitude anymore. When I watch I see poor coaching from a stubborn man who doesn't think he needs to change what he is doing.

That's why I have very little hope. I think that's why a lot of people have little hope. I don't have a pattern of negative posting so it isn't just me being an idiot, or a negavol, or whatever. It's just my opinion based on what I see on saturdays.

I hope we destroy UGA and every team left on our schedule, bit similar to breakerboy I guess, I just don't have any expectations right now. Maybe Butch will turn a corner and get things right, I'm just skeptical that happens.

If you owned a company and you suspected one of your supervisors was performing poorly, would you talk to the employees under him?

I don't know if he is talking to them now, but if he is thinking about making a change I would 100% think he should talk to them.

We have a serious chance here to take over the east with the availability of Chip. Please don't screw this up UT...

And this goes to what I was trying to say yesterday. If we have a coaching change, but we don't get Kelly, does that necessarily mean UT screwed up?

Again, Kelly may just not want to coach here.

Currie doesn't really need their feedback beyond issues that would require his immediate attention. All of the feedback he needs happens on the field and to a lesser extent in recruiting. He doesn't need to have a one-on-one with Hoke or Gillespie to find out if Butch isn't the guy.

Then I would hope you would understand given my feelings why I would lash out at the constant repetitive crap I read on here. Or maybe I need to walk away from here for a while. IF we do not come out on top Saturday I know I'll have to take a vacay.
