Meanwhile, Kelly is just waiting for a job. He's an elite coach with no contracts to deal with concerning other teams. Easy hire, just make the guy say yes.

De1 over in FF claiming something about TK and we will find out the real story. He's went downhill quick.

Just heard Hubbs on the radio say that Dormady being yanked for Guarantano was actually a reaction by Butch when Dormady did not run for the first down on the play where he had plenty of running room after rolling out. Instead, he bailed out and threw it at the feet of Ty Chandler.

This is the only play where I lost my mind during the game. I am glad that he was yanked for that. I would guess that he did learn and hopefully, if it comes up again, he will keep it and get the first down.

It's overthinking it for him to not be the first call or two. He may say no, and he may not be the popular pick among a handful of people, but he checks about all of the boxes.

Kelly is just the only hire that makes sense at this point. His scheme fits our current talent. He would probably be able to win 9 games next year with our roster, even with a transition year. He's not under contract, and could probably take over much sooner to get the ball rolling. The guy will not lose us games with on the field coaching blunders, he's as legit as it comes.

I agree with all except the second to last sentence. I'd put an "almost certainly not" instead of an "is not." I'd also add that while I'm not going to defend his every move, I'm pulling for him to figure this thing out and become an elite coach. Again I'd rather go 10-2 this year and win the East and land a top 10 recruiting class then head off into the abyss and uncertainty of a coaching search. There is Alabama who finally got it right. And then there is Norte Dame and Nebraska and countless others who are still searching for glory and may never get it right.

But to your point I'd rather it be clear what we should do with Butch one way or the other.

Me too! I'd much rather go 10-2 or 11-1 and have Butch shut everyone up and us contend for the playoff in Atlanta.

I had to listen to the game on the radio, and the commentators were ripping Dormady about it. Sounds like Butch didn't like it either.

So if JG could have driven us down the field to score and played well, we might be starting a new quarterback this week?

When you really think about it, Butch is not going to play favorites when his job is on the line. (and it is, whether he wants to remain in Knoxville or not. He needs a good record to move on-- he definitely does not want to be fired)

I have to think he has far more knowledge about what works with this team than any armchair coach on Volnation.
