Agreed. As long as we don't lose 6 or more he has next year to do that. Much easier to take the step of going from 5-6 wins to 8 than it is the next jump. We are very close. Scheme may keep us from making it but we knew what kind of scheme we were getting when we hired him.

Butch's scheme works a lot better with a running quarterback. If he is sticking with Dormady then he needs to change the scheme.

If you know he's not the guy, make the move and stop wasting time. Promote someone to interim HC and get a leg up on the other jobs that will be opening up.

A&M, UCLA, Arkansas, etc

Wasting time in any other scenario.

The rub is in season you can't really get a leg up. No AD will let another team talk to coaches regarding openings and I wouldn't expect them to that's bad professionalism if they did. They should be focused on their own team. The only way is it's someone not coaching that you have already locked up. So you're hands are tied to conf championships are over or reg seasons over.

Soon...

Homerun hires start off 0-2

While taking a roster that isn’t his into double OT against the #4 team in the nation that has superior talent. A loss is a loss, I get that, but that game showed the potential of how big that hire could be.

We called those games moral victories

Here's my two cents. I think our season comes down to the Georgia game in two weeks. If Tennessee loses that, we will almost assuredly lose to at least one of Kentucky, South Carolina or Vanderbilt. If that's how it unfolds surely to goodness Jones will be fired. My main two issues with him are simply his in game coaching and how he handles personnel. Saying he's below average at this level would be a huge understatement. He does so many head scratching things in these two areas that it's seriously ridiculous. I actually do believe we can still win 8 games but even if that happens it will be in spite of Jones. There's so much talent on this team that I think they can overcome his incompetence, if we beat UGA. If we lose, I think the wheels fall off.

WRs are greatly improved. QB not taking advantage of them.

Can't throw to the same guy all day... give me a break... Callaway was the primary all day and FL knew that within the first 5 minutes...
I heard there was a kid named Tyler Byrd on our team, but I haven't seen him in a couple of years....
Waste of talent.
Move to CB on Monday.

Currie should demand growth.

8-4 is stagnant.

If I am Currie, I sit Butch down and say:

You want an extension. We play for championships here at TN. You weren't my choice for coach but from people all around you have done a great job bring back the talent to a championship level.

Let's make this simple - you must win the SEC east. If you can deliver and show this growth we can talk extension.

You have the talent and facilities to accomplish this goal. This is the goal. Fall short and we will look for another coach.

Good luck.

At 8-4 I think he's probably safe and if that's the case he should get an extension because if not the recruiting will fall through the floor. If you're Currie you have to lower the buyout on both ends in order to facilitate this.

Or you have a meeting and you ask him if there's a way you can meet in the middle on buyout money and move on amicably.

I have a solution. Peyton steps in as interim HC freeing Currie to pursue Chip Kelly.

Just give the job to Peyton outright and tell him he only has to work 20 hours a week. Let him fill his staff with his NFL coaching buddies and he seals the deal with every recruit with a 2-minute phone call while watching little brother Eli play on Sundays and eating chicken parm.

He refused to extend Butch at 8-4 this year. I'll be surprised if he goes back on that.

Magnificent!

1st call trevor lawrence

Here's a question..... What should our total coaching salary budget be. Head coach, all the way down to adminstrative positions?

And inexplicably he didn't get another carry after singlehandedly getting the Vols down the field and inside the RZ. Smh smh smh

None of Florida's defenders wanted anything to do with trying to tackle Kelly. Nothing short of coaching malpractice to not get him the football down there.

Gruden as head coach and Peyton OC. That way Peyton wouldn't have all the pressure and could just focus on the offense. We sign Trevor Lawrence and the #1 class in the nation. Would be nice…
