Yep. Sad.

Last week rewatching the game and defense there were multiple plays I saw with Jumper where he had a lane to get a RB/WR for no gain or a TFL and just couldn't get there (though he did read the play well, in his defense).

I had the same thought about JRM (and Kirkland, to a lesser extent). If a guy like that is in there, he has him dead to rights and we're in 3rd in long instead of 2nd and short.

I was pleased with Sapp mostly as well, but I'd have to rewatch to know for sure. Not sure I've got it on me to do so though. His athleticism definitely flashed though. Definite upgrade over McDowell and Berry in that regard.

Yeah and that was on 3rd down. We would have gotten the ball back with all the momentum and I think fl would have crumbled. But should coulda woulda all day. The pieces are there for us to be a great team. Need to move on.

I would def run 35 and 14 from now on D. And Tuttle was a man in the middle. Def like him and KM as the tackles.

No one coaches throwing off your backfoot. He won't step up in the pocket either. He's not a runner so where is he going? If he doesn't want to get hit he needs to play something else.

Eh, he's had one partial offseason with a QB coach, and I have no faith in Canales. The Steelers have already said that Dobbs will be a big project because his fundamentals were so bad from lack of coaching.

It takes time to overcome a career of bad habits, save that's with a good coach, which I'm doubting Canales is.

And I say using 35 and 4 only because I believe Butch will never go out of shotgun and I don't believe using QD and 4 in short yardage. The D will key on 4 and bring the house. You need the two options if you need a yard.

Idk if he'll ever swallow his price and get under center in those situations either.

I think Kelly is they guy in those situations, but honestly IDGAF if it's him or Bituli or even Eric Freakin Crosby. We need a heavy goal line set to run the ball out of.

It shouldn't be that hard to put in 7-8 plays that you might need twice a game.

One thing Doug Matthews spoke a little bit on this morning that I hadn't thought about:

If Butch is just absolutely opposed to going under center and running the ball in short yardage situations, why don't they have some sort of package to run the ball when you need a yard?

Surely with all the RB depth we have we could put together a wildcat or something and direct snap to Kelly/Chandler.

You've gotta have SOMETHING in your offense for when you need a yard and want to run the ball. The simplest solution is lining up under center and running or sneaking it, but there are other options toon

Absolutely baffling to me that in 5 years here Butch has refused to put in SOMETHING for these situations.

IS there even a FB on roster? Hell bring a TE in pull him for a lead block.
First and goal at the 1 out of shotgun is ridiculous!

Probably don't have the personnel. It's like the ever elusive dime package.

That's what bothered me last night. Dude was a straight up statue in the pocket!

Man we wait all off-season for this type of let down.

That Florida team is terrible.

We racked up more yards against them than we did against GT. That's including the 50 from two OTs.

Teams will score on them and their offense will get shut down against solid defenses.

Nope

I'm pretty down this morning. Not ready to send him packing because he really can still win the Least.

UGA Or Bust

Same here.

It's funny in a way: I'm as low or lower on Butch (and Scott, to an extent) as I've ever been, but at the same time I feel better about the TEAM and players than a week ago.

We've got some ball players. I'm not convinced that we don't have enough talent to win 8 games in spite of Butch.

Plus, some of the best games we've seen from Butch were situations where people were upset with Butch and he found a way to bring the team together for a crucial win.

UGA in Knoxville should be lit.

I didn't see it, but apparently Butch threw LS under the bus on the Butch Jones Show. Said "you've got to run out in there" on the goal line play.

Like he doesn't have full veto power over every call. Dude you're not supposed to just sit and watch like a fan.

If you are a college QB and throw off your backfoot purposely you shouldn't have a scholarship. He didn't throw off his backfoot in HS. He was a pocket passer that looked good. Any sign of pressure and he compromises all footwork to not get hit.

It's a cruel joke every damn year and it won't change until we either get lucky and hire a stud up and comer or pony up the cash for a proven coach.

Neither is likely to happen.

I think this is it. He is afraid to get hit as he throws and will make a mistake. It's his bodies natural reaction to pressure. Doesn't seem they have worked on that at all. That is something in practice you throw players at them over and over and teach them to step up in the pocket and throw going forward.

Guess Verizon had interrupted service from Irma

They are garbage. All they have is Cleveland on offense. Oh yeah we let him get one on one with Abernathy late. Smh

That's not throwing anyone under the bus. That's stating a fact.

That's why I'm saying total lack of coaching and now bad coaching are a problem for him.

You can't coach it...... He's got to be a MAN in the pocket or he can ride the pine. Heat him up and he loses it back there.
