Butch reminded me of Ted Cruz last night . All red faced and embarrassed that he should've endorsed Trump in his speech but too stubborn to do it.

You have the read option in your playbook . You have two QB's and only one has the skillset to run the play. You run the play with the QB who doesn't have that skillset.
The other QB has a cannon for an arm. Yet you continue to play the 1st QB who has already thrown 3 picks (1 pick 6 on a high throw) hoping he will get hot. Luck ran out.

JG deserves a shot. Give him the chance to learn on the job.

C'mon Ted/Butch swallow your pride and endorse JG.

Newt, this avi is a real kick in the teeth today. I am humbly requesting a different one for the remainder of my time in hades. TIA.

Doesn't matter. Can't taunt the crowd, camera, players, coaches or anyone. He knows better and that as much as any other play cost us the game.

I agree it should have been called. I disagree it cost us the game. Yes, it gave them about forty yards ultimately, but we lost the game way before that drive by UF, IMO.

I will say this. Butch has finally united the fan base. He almost did by losing to Vandy last year, but we rallied behind him again. I do think he wants to win as bad as any of us, but he just does not understand how to do it in the SEC. I do think that he will not lose the team. We will continue to fight. But, every single game from here on out, except MAYBE this Saturday, is going to be a fight to win. Every one.

We had the mo after that touchdown. A good Medley kick sets up bad UF field position and the chance to get the ball right back. That was a really really bad boneheaded mistake by 4. It was as costly as 66's three redzone false starts. Those penalties were crippling.

I agree. This one just seems different from Vandy in that against Vandy we really got out played all night. They flat out torched our D and just beat us. That was really humbling and man it sucked.

Yesterday I felt like we completely out played them and had the better, if not dominant team. And i don't feel like we got "outcoaches" by UF. I truly think we somehow coached ourselves into the loss. The red zone play calling and playing musical chairs with the kickers and the clock management and the safeties asleep on the final play. Ugh. We stole defeat from the hands of victory.

The sky is not falling! We watched a young team grow up today and almost get a win in the swamp! We have a stable of great young players that are only going to continue to get better! Butch will turn this around!

Judge Irwin regarding the series beginning 1st and goal from the 1: "that was the worst offensive series I've ever seen."

Dittos.

He's already losing the team. See cryptic twitter messages over the past few years with big departures. A unified team would have pulled out the win yesterday IMO. A unified staff would have helped too.

This team has enough talent to win every game outside of Bama this year. If Jones doesn't rally the troops, it ain't happening.

Really excited about 14 and equally excited that it means getting 20 off the field.

I def like him and 35 out there. They are our 2 best lbs. After 53 got abused on that drive after the penalty he didn't go back out there. Whether by design for rest or what but 35 is just a better athlete.

Goodbye VN.

I am still in Oklahoma for my son's Boy Scout canoeing campout. Life is to be enjoyed. Something that I have learned through his Scout adventures.

Couldn't sleep last night so checked in. This place is kinda miserable. Maybe I will be after I watch the game tonight...probably not. I have rooted for the Vols through 6 head coaches tenures. During that time, I cannot even count the number of losses that should have been wins.

It's not going to change my status as a lifelong Volunteer.

Not sure that I can weather the current misery of VN.

VN used to be my safe place to enjoy Vols' football.
Not now.

I will check back in after our wins this season to see if it is safe again.

:hi:

:salute:

Players aren't the problem. Butch has recruited a good roster. Our game plan, play calling and overall coaching are the problem.

Someone else said it but I think the game was lost in the first half. Against a defence crowding the line and pressing receivers, UT continually ran into its teeth or tried short passes. If you have confidence in Dormady to throw in the red zone, have him throw downfield early

Is now a must-win game. Didn't have to be but it is now

The UGA game has been very kind to Butch. In 2013, a lot of us (me included) felt that game showed we might have something in him. David almost toppled Goliath again. Never mind that Georgia ended up more David than Goliath. In 2015, we had one of those patented "start in a hole and win after everything that has to go right miraculously goes right" games to turn around a pretty miserable start to the year. Last year the same thing, but condensed to one play.

I have no doubt that Butch beats UGA, finishes 8-4, gets a contract extension, and 80 percent of the fan base is giddy about next year.

Good point.

People been trying to convince us he could run better than we thought all off season.. Nope.

QD is a borderline statue for sure, similar to Worley in this offense.

JG is no doubt quicker/faster but even JG is no speed merchant. People assume he's a 4.5/4.6 guy but actually closer to 4.7/4.8.

Still, he needs another chance to run the offense with the ones to see what he can do.
