The better way to handle it would have been a statement from behind the podium with a prepared script to keep him from rambling nonsense.

if you only run into a refugee terrorist 1 time out of 3.9 billions times you are out and that is the same as their chance to kill you, I am avoiding them like the plague.

you come across a wolf in the wild and treat it like a wild creature your chances of it attacking you are going to be pretty low. you try and treat it like your precious Scruffy and guess what you are getting mauled.

my gun has a zero percent chance of killing anyone. probably because I keep it locked up and unloaded and only use it when I know its safe. I leave it on the front porch loaded around a bunch of kids and there is a pretty good chance something bad happens.

boiling it down to pure odds is so misleading I would consider it a lie.

The math is easy. We've let in tens of thousands of refugees each year for decades and I believe there are still 0 terrorists attacks by refugees. Apparently a few of them have committed non-terrorism related homicides.

The point is that there aren't any refugee terrorists. There are lots of refugees to meet and no terrorists to meet among them. All of these are bad analogies. Again, tens of thousands of refugees each year. 39,000 last year from the ME.

We're spending trillions of dollars worrying about something that is terribly unlikely.
