What do you make of Shark humpers presser today?

I think there are lots of coaches who like to play possum and talk up the other team. Lou Holtz was one of the worst. According to him, his teams could barely line up while he was up against teams that could compete in the NFL every week. Lol.

We broke the steak last year man. No one lacks confidence. We’ve outplayed them several years in a row.

I do agree with a good bit of that. When he constantly comes out with those kind of comments it makes think he's not confident in himself or his team. Many have said he's insecure and comments like that make it look like he is. It'll be interesting.

I think Butch should have came out in his presser and told how he couldnt wait to march into Gville guns a blazin, skull drag the gators, steal all their women, and kick their dogs on the way back to Knoxville.

That would probably be better talking material if the Vols somehow lose Saturday.

We'll see if you fellers are singing the same tune when Tennessee loses on Saturday and Butch starts talking about how we only had 27 players who had ever played in the swamp excuse.

Yeah, if we win or lose will affect my joy or lack thereof. What the hell Butch says in front of a microphone will make zero difference. Fans that need to be coddled by what a coach says or doesn't say in front of a microphone need psychological help. If we win coaches press conferences don't make me feel worse about the win. If we lose a coach's press conference doesn't make me feel better because a coach knows what to say.

You wouldn't believe how strong the negatives are here. The local talk show hosts and even some of the Auburn fans are really down on Mahlzan and the team.

I watched the entire game, and their offense wasn't great, but they led most of the game and lost by 8 to the defending national champs at their stadium. Auburn's defense is really good, and so is Clemson's. Auburn's offense will get better, and they still have a shot at beating Bama and winning the west.

Sounds like our press and some of our fans. It's Saban envy, I guess, but to beat Saban, we have to be patient and let our coach build the team with depth. Otherwise, you just keep starting over again.

Why state the obvious

That was a very small segment of the entire presser. You are making it much, much too big of a deal.

But then again, negativity regarding UT is your thing.

I'm just trying to figure out why we take press conferences to heart. Coaches don't say what they think in those. Some do. But most don't even care and just do it because they have to

We aren't confident that we lose. Besides last year (we won), the previous few years have been close. You get too worked up with what Butch is saying. You give the other team the benefit of the doubt but never us. You starting to see the problem here?

Look, Butch probably didn't mean anything by the comment. It just comes off to most people as an excuse. Why even say it? It's just like the 3 games in 13 days thing. These situations occur every Saturday for teams all across the country. Internalize that crap, don't make it public man.

It's nothing but that. Reckon some people just don't want to admit it. Confident coaches don't come out with stuff like that constantly like he does. Got a feeling if he does lose to Florida the wheels are gonna fall off.

The wheels have never fallen off, so I am glad you have proof of that.

I think a lot of our rediculous fanbase is gonna be eating crow after Saturday. I hope he shuts them up

It won't change the haters, they will then say UF was down, they were thinking about the hurricane, we are more talented anyway so we should have won, etc.

A claw-back game where the Vols win will incite the haters even more. Their dreams of failure will not be realized and they will complain that the Vols needed to win more convincingly. You know adopt the narrative to the facts you are given. That sort of thing. Maybe a few will claim to eat crow for a few hours, but you know that negative attitude: it's like an addiction.

Poster is new, let it slide.

Na maybe I forgot to add blue font somewhere or something. Was just trying to say that if Butch portrayed this Vols team as the 85 Bears and promised a win by 50+ and then went and got shut out in the Swamp, same posters would be telling him to shut the ef up the same as they are now.

Miserable is miserable.

They are facts. Is it necessary to share those facts with fans, no. Does it do more harm than good because of what people turn his words into, yes. Does any of that change his ability to win games as the HFC, no. Is his job to win games or to give speeches that improve the psyche of vol fans? Thankfully for him it's the first option. Unfortunately for him, many vol fans need somebody to do the second option for them.
