Watching Finebaum, what is the deal with the Auburn hate? The lost to the NC team 14-6 and everyone ready to fire the coach. Alabama couldn't beat Clemson either.

How many yards receiving do you think Marquez Callaway will have? How about John Kelly? How many total yards and TDs for him? You seem to be obsessing over Jumper for some reason. Why not analyze some of our players that many people think will have a good game? Unless this analysis does not fit your narrative that you don't think we can win on Saturday.

I'd guess that Kelly would have a pretty solid game on Saturday. Really not sure on Callaway because Butch hasn't been that good at getting his best receivers the ball enough in his 5 years. "Enough" for Callaway in my mind would be 9 or 10 targets. Now what I am pretty sure about is the fact that Jumper is a below average middle linebacker in this league. He's a guy you can use but he should never start over Bituli.

You said "Could it be worse" and I responded with how it could be worse. You responded with well it could have been better. Of course it could be better, could. Jumper has definite limitations. He proved good enough to beat THIS OFFENSE that we play Saturday. A true freshman COULD be better. A true freshman on the road at the swamp COULD be much worse.

I didn't say "well it could have been better". I asked a question if it could have been? You seemed to have the impression of certainty about something that is unknown. I have no clue, and it doesn't seem like we will find out.

I did find it interesting that Doug Matthews, a coach who believes highly in experience and seniority, doesn't think Jumper(who has both) should be on the field this weekend.

Hopefully we only throw it 25 times or so. That would be a lot of targets for one WR. 5-6 targets seems about right to me.

I think there are extremes on both sides of the fence. Anyone that can't see the improvement with Jumper is on the extreme negative side. I'm not so much worried about him being white as I am not being able to get to the play against faster teams. He has had some tackles for loss I don't remember many that weren't assisted. He did light up that Florida back on the screen last year. There is a reason that we see him making tackles on the back of the other team. It's because he's late. The same criticisms were said of AJ Johnson when he was here until his abbreviated last year. I think we need linebackers that can hit running backs and make them go backwards. In order to do this, you have to first be able to get to the play. To be fair though, we only have one backer that has shown that ability in any capacity in Bituli.

Bituli is one of if not the hardest hitting linebackers that Tennessee has had in over a decade. When he hits people you hear it and the ball carrier gets knocked on his rear end. We need more physicality at the linebacker position and Jumper doesn't provide that. He gets his clock cleaned if he's ever in position to make a one on one tackle more times than not. He got dragged 5 yards the other day by a Sycamore.

Found this interesting -

Doug Matthews just on the radio said he feels we see a completely different defense this weekend. Said we have only run like 4 designed blitzes in each game, playing very conservative to eliminate big plays and injuries. Should be much more aggressive this weekend. Also said Hoke kept a close eye on the Michigan game because he still has a lot of contacts up there, and we should see some similar defensive packages and stunts.

Butch has done this since being hired. The season starts Saturday at 330et

Losing a game these days = fans thinks you suck and everyone should be fired. If they beat Alabama people will say Gus needs a raise and Saban should be fired.

Flashback to 2015. Jumper controlled most of the snaps at Mike through the first two games (44 and 89 snaps). Game 3 DK get's 24 snaps to Jumper's 13 and from then on it was the DK show.

reading all this and the past few days.... One side says we've been holding back and playing vanilla D, the other says Shoop is about to be Sunseri 2.0 and lines up almost 2yds off the ball...
one side praises the team and staff for coming back against a run first ACC team and beating a Div ll team, comparing players positive performances against D-ll play... the other says the staff is dumb for playing starters and not letting them rest... I see where Shoop plays guys 86 snaps because "he trusts them" , so apparently not the rest...One side says we didn't give JG enough time to settle and go, even though he looked uncomfortable, stiff, and lost at times against a D ll team... Others say QD is the answer and he will continue to get better...
Either way we have not played a true SEC caliber team yet until Saturday, which happens to be one, if not, our biggest rivals, on their field...
I watched a Clemson backup come in for the first time and look calm and cool on a big stage, I watched a GA backup come in and light it up for the first time on a big stage and then back it up fairly well in South Bend... I watch teams play relaxed, confident, and with swagger.
I have not seen any of this with our team Yet.... I see confusion, inconsistency... I certainly haven't seen confidence and Swagger yet... And we go to the Swamp....
I hope this staff and team get their 'ish together for Saturday, because the O line and D line aren't going against a D-2 line/undersized ACC team where they gave up sacks, hurries, and couldn't get push or barely into the backfield, much less cutting off the edge in either game....

I disagree but to each his own. I can't imagine wearing baggy jeans again, but I'm sure they'll come back around.

Ironically, the tightest jeans I ever put on was a pair of bootcut Wranglers with the patch on the back during my youth. How some of the fat dudes I saw wearing those could move was a mystery.

If the skinny jean "fad" goes away, I'll just cut them off and buy a Tebow jersey.

They make guys look very feminine. I'm not saying that to be a jerk, they just do.

And there are styles between baggy and skinny lol

I agree that Bituli should be the starter. I just didn't agree that Jumper would get decleated 7 or 8 times.

My guess would be because Gus is supposed to be this offensive horse whisperer and his offense looked like slaw yet again in that game.
