Find a good western wear store such as Boot Barn. I highly recommend Cinch jeans. A prior poster recommended Ariat jeans. Can't go wrong with either.

Girls may like boys who wear spandex jeans, but women like men in good old fashioned denim jeans.

I will let my wife know immediately and go get some Carhartts. Please forgive me for it may take a minute to get the skoal ring to show on the back pocket.

UT offensive line is that good and they have thrown at least 5 slants to Palmer already this year. UT has a QB that can make that pass this year.

We are not good enough to just simply feed Kelly and open up slants. Our OL isn't good enough to make it that simple. And neither qb has looked good in intermediate or crossing routes. Lots of behind, over, and under throws.

Edit the fact that Palmer only has 2 catches proves my point lol

I want to see John Kelly and Co make the gators tap out.

I think Kelly has a big day and possibly Palmer. They will be all over Callaway but he still could show out again.

Ok. I am not sure that I can totally disagree with that, but the landscape in college football and the SEC has totally changed. You can't just go by historical standards anymore.

When Johnny Majors started at UT, the conference played 6 conference games. Since Majors started (40 years ago), the truly elite period at UT was Fulmer's from 1995-2001. You are talking about 6 years in 40. Fulmer won the East in 2004 and 2007, but those teams had flaws.

I want to win as much as the next person, and we do need to win the East soon. But people throw around "historical standards" these days when they don't really know what that is and how things have changed.

I would agree that you can't just go by historical standards. Take history out of it for just a second, although I think it's very important. It would be hard to convince me that Tennessee isn't one of the 12 best jobs in college football. Nobody has better facilities and last I checked we had one of the top 5 or 6 recruiting budgets in the game. The instate talent is at an all time high as well. So if Tennessee is a top 12 job, should they not at least be a top 15 program most years? Should go without saying that I think they should be.

2 things I think about this game:

Our front 7 on D isn't as good as UFs. In fact ours is probably bottom half SEC.

Franks is a little better than what he showed against UM. He has talent and a good arm.

Tuttle Taylor Phillips makes us at least average, if they get to play together lol. Bituli too. But ya theirs is better.

im kinda hoping we unleash Gaulden off the corners especially into the boundary or short slot. He can and will cause turnovers if turned loose.

I don't think we really know just yet how good our front 7 is going to be this year.

U are right, we are not good enough to just feed Kelly and throw slants. But, we are good enough to feed Kelly, Chandler and (maybe?) CFA and throw all over the field to Palmer, Johnson, Byrd, Smith, all 3 backs and especially Callaway and WIN, going away.

Doesn't Shoop like to blitz the nickel normally? Haven't seen blitzes yet. I bet we see a lot of that this weekend and Gaulden might get a sack and some TFL's.

Hubbs tweeted he had been working there and Shoop confirms but certainly doesn't say he is going to be the guy. At least that is the way I interpreted it.

I haven't watched the interview, but was assuming what Shoop was saying basically was "Bituli's role in a 4-2-5 is as the MLB" not "Bituli is our MLB in the 4-2-5" if that makes any sense.

The elite period was twice that long. 89-93 should be included as well.

I'm curious though. You're on record saying that all schools currently have resources, so apparently we can't use our substantial resources as rationale for why some of us think we aren't where we should be. Now apparently many- according to you- don't have a grasp of what our historical standards should say about where our program should be. I'm just curious, what is your benchmark? Just happy to be here to watch some football?

It does. Now let's see if he has any role. If so there really is no excuse for him not getting some reps last week.

Have you tried the stretchy material? It's pretty awesome. Walmart and Rural King? What is wrong with you people? Do you not like to be comfortable or do you just really like wearing hideous jeans? Where do you get your white, Velcro New Balances?

Sounds like somebody else likes them Swiss Cake Rolls.

Frank’s cracked under the pressure against UM. I’m glad that he didn’t get the tune up game last weekend to help his confidence. We need to blitz and bring the heat early and often. Can’t let him start to get comfortable.

Also, if he doesn’t do well, I think we see Del Rio.

First of all, there are great facilities all across the country. That is certainly one huge change in the last 20 years. All P5 schools have money, and most of the top half of each P5 conference have excellent facilities. Second, IMO, the recruiting budget is high because we had to recruit out of state more than other schools. It's not because we purposely allocate more. You have to find players, and as compared to UF, UGA, LSU, etc., we had to spend more to find them. The instate talent is a new phenomenon. It hasn't been the case, and that is what has been an obstacle. Talent in East TN is not great, and most talent in TN is 3 hours away, the same distance as areas out of state as well. The hope is that we continue to keep the instate talent, and the program should get better. The recruiting budget would also decrease.

While I think highly of my school, I am not sure that UT has been a top 12 job. I can think of 4 in the SEC alone that are higher, and 2 others are debatable. That leaves 4 other conferences. There are many things that go into that including recruiting advantages and the strength of the conferences. I do think that the increase in TN high school talent will raise the level of the job.

Even if we only get about 3-4 YPC, keep feeding the rock. I'd love to see the rushes in the 30-35 range. Wear them down with multiple backs and take advantage of the run protection, Fulmer style.
