Just watched most of the AU Clem game again while at the gym...
The distinctive difference in the game was O and D lines... period. AU O line couldn't give their Offense enough time and spread to run/pass effectively... Clem's D line was dominating the line of scrimmage...
This is why AL is so dominate-- they have elite O and D lines... We have GOT to upgrade the D line/depth and get consistent play out of our O line (recruiting both) if we truly want to get to the next level.
With an elite O line you have the gaps and the time to run any above average RB for days and eventually your WRs will get separation... Hopefully having Smith and bringing in Mays is the start to this. I don't know what to say about our D line... under-performing and thin on depth in year 5....
It was an extremely tight window cause there were three defenders in pretty close proximity of him. Not that he couldn't have fit it in but was just a hard throw to make. I think he had the rb in the flat wide open but can't remember I would have to watch it again. He def has the tools but needs more reps in practice and spot time to get the feel of the game.
So. . . I don't do a lot of shopping. I went to get some jeans today and felt like I was in a different world.
Can anyone tell me where to get a decent pair of jeans that doesn't have this "flexible" material. I'd really like a pair of regular jeans, but couldn't find a decent cut without the spandex anywhere.
Truly elite OLs or DLs are extremely rare in CFB. There are only a few prototypical DTs and OTs in the high school ranks every year and most of them are going to the same schools that put guys in the league like clockwork. Everyone else is recruiting guys who are undersized and hoping they pan out in 2-3 years after strength and conditioning. Most don't.
Look at Trey Smith and Tuttle. Those are the types of OL and DL that top-notch programs get every year, and they're big-time difference makers for us. We need to pull in about about 3-4 per year on both sides of the ball to account for busts, transfers, and injuries to get back to elite status.
Exactly --thanks
We have some depth at O line right now (albeit certainly not elite) but for those claiming Butch is such a great recruiter, I am just not seeing it on the D line and LB groups... sure we have gotten some highly "ranked" LBs over the past few years that have come in, but only a couple have panned out/developed... I just can't understand why we are so paper thin on the D line... We have two 5 star DTs that are good, not elite so far (Tuttle could be elite by now if not hurt) and 2-3 "good" DE's and then it drops off... again I say in year 5. This goes back to them playing all those snaps against GT... a recipe for fatigue and injury... hope I am wrong.
Just one man's understanding but it didn't seem to me to be an eligibility issue. No payments from boosters or anything like that. They received legal (by NCAA terms) money (on a debit card not eligible for Atm withdrawal) from the school, spent that money on electronics from the school bookstore where those debit cards can be used, then resold the electronics for cash. Nothing about that got them in trouble. They then reported their cards as stolen and that those purchases were not made by the cardholder and got new cards/refunds.
In these cases normally doesn't the NCAA accept a game suspension and to pay back the amount that was stolen?
The first team that starts stacking elite OL and DL in the East will dominate the division for years to come. Simple as that. People remember Tebow from Meyer's tenure at UF, but those OLs and DLs were elite as well. That's what kept them on top for so long. Same as what Fulmer had during the 90s.
Callaway probably makes that catch.
I don't think so. Murphy is probably just as athletic as Callaway if not one where I don't know if it would have made that much of a difference. I'm pretty sure the DB knocked the ball up as well, and as it was in the air there was 3 defensive players not really looking for the ball. A better defensive backfield like FL would have snagged that or ran under and picked it off. He def didn't go through his reads on that play. Was trying to do too much on that throw and his throw was bad too. Chalk it up to youth and lack of reps. No one is perfect 100% everyone makes a bad throw or bad read
