Tyler Byrd, Latrell Williams, & Josh Smith are back and will practice today
Eli Wolf has a sprained ankle is questionable this week
Evan Berry, Austin Smith, Marcus Tatum are questionable this week
Okay, so looking like game on for Gainesville --- still think many players will be suspended... We have no excuses not to win this thing.
One player that we are still not getting solid info/intel on is Austin Smith, unless I am missing something... they say his knee is dinged up, but I haven't seen anything specific. The latest is he is questionable... This would be the game to power through if it's only "precautionary", wouldn't you think?
Where are you hearing this? I have not heard of one, but I am usually one of the last ones to hear anything.
We find a way to win the next 4 games and I'll see you guys in Atlanta in December.
We lose 3 of the 4 and I'll see you guys in the coaching search thread.
What a month this will be.
I've never been big on firing coaches either but my first thread in the FF was the night of the loss at Florida in 2011. In most all threads it seemed like everyone was wanting to fire Dooley. I only signed up for the forum in Sept. So I was curious who they thought we should get. I was genuinely curious so I started my first thread and it was entitled "Coaching candidates" or something like that. I got a mixed reaction, very hostile from the Dooley brownshirts, but the thread took off and there were a lot of names offered. Some people wanted the thread deleted - a mod, could have been Freak, responded that it was the most active thread on the front page, no way did it deserved deletion. My timing was great that night.
I know we're 2-0 but this let's wait and see stuff is okay for some and not for others. The biggest concern is obviously the defense. My position is if you like the defense then cool, if not, raise holy hell. It may not make a difference but collectively the message will get through.
I have another concern which I think Butch is very much aware of. What is the key to winning on the road? The answer comes down to 2 words, Mental Toughness. We're doing pretty good at home and are perfect in neutral site games but we need to improve our mental toughness if we are going to win at a higher level on the road in rivalry games. I think that's something they've been trying to work on this year so that tells me that the staff isn't asleep at the wheel on this either. We lost 3 games last year that were all arguably winnable. All 3 were on the road.
So was there a confrontation between Wiggins and Butch on Saturday?
Supposedly after Martin got hurt he went up to butch wanting to go into the game and threw his helmet is digust on the sidelines.
I didn't see it but was supposedly discussed by Tim Irwin on radio yesteeday
That would make us 3-3 heading into Bama. Assuming we lost to UGA and UF, it is also hard to see us beating LSU. If we win the rest, that puts us at 5 losses. I'm not sure 5 losses gets CBJ fired. I am sure 5 losses will make this board miserable if he isn't fired.
I'm sure we can all agree that there are far and away fewer complaints from Vols fans of SC and Vandy were wins last year. A&M was a hard-fought loss but to an equally comparable team, on the road. I can stomach that one.
This weekend will be yet another litmus test for Butch, fair or not. But, this is a game we should win.
That almost looked forced to me. If you look at him before and after it just seemed so business like. I commented at the time that it didn't look genuine. Same with Dormady. Maybe I'm wrong but it seemed that way to me.
Just gonna nitpick here--
Our true away record is listed at 6-13 with a win % of 0.286 or something. That should be revised to 0.316.
Not that it's much better, but there's a reason prices are marked at $6.99 rather than $7.00.. even the smallest differences can have a profound effect on perception.
