My point with that chart was to show that we always do very well against FCS teams with respect to total yards allowed. I was just trying to be a prick to the guys who were celebrating the amazing performance of our defense on Saturday. :)

Should've sourced you my b

I went to Navarre Beach(between Destin and Pensacola) a little bit ago. Waves are up and it's windy, we definitely got lucky with this one, hopefully everyone further East is staying safe.

Destin, here. It's cool and windy but my girls were able to enjoy the pool and the beach a little yesterday. We've got games for them today and I've got a good book and coffee. Irma can EAD, we're enjoying our vacation :).

And the same things could be said about Butch before we hired him. His resume looked great as G5 coach. As I said, if Butch continues to win 8-9, then I'm willing to continue rolling with him and hope he can figure it out, unless the brass 100% has a proven P5 HC already locked up.

Here's another thought about our coaching staff...we have one of, if not, the best special team units in the country...that takes coaching! It seems Butch can develop guys really well to play special teams, but why does that type of coaching seem to not happen in other areas? Do we spend too much time in practice on special teams work? I don't know the answer...just throwing it out there.

I'm convinced we over complicate everything. Hardly anyone on offense or defense ever looks conformable and confident. You watch most other teams, and everyone is moving decisively. Our guys seem to hesitate more and just look awkward.

Florida game is crossroads game for Shoop IMO. I've given him a pass (Justin Martin has given me a HUGE cushion to throw to Bob 😂) up to this point. Last year injuries. This year funky offenses and not showing anything.

Even with vanilla defense ISU was 0-11 on 3rd down and no way they score without that strip sack.

I'll wait.

Bring the heat to Florida Bob.... bring it

32-21 Butch Jones (1st 53 games as UT HC)
3-0 in bowls

32-21 Dabo Swinney (1st 53 games as CU HC)
1-3 in bowls

Dabo finished his 5th year 11-2 and a win in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Remember Clemsoning? Weren't they the butt of the media's jokes? Would y'all consider them elite now?

Can y'all be patient?

If we go 11-2 this year I'll shut my mouth.

Until the admin makes it clear that we expect championships and nothing less, they will be content with just where we are now - fans keep coming out in high attendance and the program makes money, I don't see them making a big change. And that's too bad for us fans who have supported this program through some tough years. Do the Haslams even care about winning in sports anymore?

I've noticed that too. Neither qb looks all that comfortable. Another thing I've noticed that they look up tight. They don't look like they're having fun.

So you'll only shut your mouth if we go 10-2 in the regular season or better... LOL

Peace homie!

I'm saying the revisionist history is a waste of time. Clemson fans had a right to be irritated with where their program was going into Dabo's 5th season and he took the next step to save his job. And their program did not (and currently does not) have the tradition, resources and historical expectations that the University of Tennessee football program does. Butch has the same opportunity this year and I'm certainly rooting for him to pull it off.

I'm not okay with Tennessee being a middle of the pack SEC team. I will not accept this is where we should be. If that makes me an outsider or "negaVol" then so be it. This fan base and program has been through Hell for the better part of 15 years and we deserve better.

I feel the same way. It's time for him to step his game up the next three weeks.

Yep. Especially on offense. Looks like they're taking a test instead if playing football.

Lord knows I have my complaints but hard to not appreciate this.

Record in last 21 games:
Alabama 20-1
Clemson 19-2
Oklahoma 18-3
Tennessee 17-4
Ohio State 17-4

Yep. There's a lot to be concerned about but more to be happy with. If we go back to where we were 22 games ago and asked if we would take 17-4 over the next 21, not a single person would have turned that down. That's a large sample size and that is some elite company.

Perspective. We are on the right track. Still got to fix some things but all teams do.

We are on track but to what is that track a legitimate question?

I honestly don't think 10 wins should be expected over 2-3 times a decade. 8-9 the other years is realistic to me

I'm sure we can all agree that there are far and away fewer complaints from Vols fans of SC and Vandy were wins last year. A&M was a hard-fought loss but to an equally comparable team, on the road. I can stomach that one.

This weekend will be yet another litmus test for Butch, fair or not. But, this is a game we should win.

I agree with this. I like Butch and I'm the biggest optimist on this board but if he doesn't win the SEC East this fall his seat should be hot. He's had enough time to do so in a down division. Should have won it last year, he gets a pass for having so many injuries, but no more excuses this fall.

Win. The. East.
