MacIntire, Whittingham, Kelly, or Ryan. If not those 4, lets keep Butch and let him make staff changes at LB and DC if that is our problem. Butch works harder than anyone and with time he'll get it done, i believe. But he has to be careful this year. He can't let the wheels fall off or it'll be over.

Florida hired defensive coordinator Will Muschamp followed by Jim McElwain. Georgia just hired a coordinator. South Carolina just hired Will Muschamp who had been fired. LSU just hired a fired head coach who has an NCAA bullseye on his back.

That should give you guys an idea about hiring big name, elite (or whatever term you wanna use) coaches.

Coaching search talk while we are 2-0 and it is Florida week. How miserable can we get?

Let's throw Scott Frost and Tee Martin into the discussion too as budget hires.
Tee would be a great hire IMO. Tennessee guy, elite recruiter, and a great OC. If he could bring in a good defensive coordinator (maybe Kevin Steele) then I think he could take us to the next level

Why is he unrealistic? Utah isn't a destination job.

He's been at Utah since 1994 (not all as HC) and graduated from BYU. Born in CA and has only coached out west. I'd say he's pretty entrenched there. Makes $3.3 million a year. Utah is also not a pressure cooker job like UT. JMO, but I don't think it would be that easy to get him.

I'd like to see Tee he a head coach somewhere before we would hire him at Tennessee personally.

In a perfect world, for sure. Still think they'd consider him. Would have to spend a ton on the staff but the young National Championship QB comes home would sell itself to recruits.

That's a fair point but he's definitely not an unrealistic candidate.

Our team looks rough and we don't know anything about Florida. Hell, we don't even know if the game will be played this week.

Regarding 9 suspended Florida players, I’m told they remain suspended until investigation into credit card caper has been resolved.

I was told by sources no timetable has been set for making a decision.
Damage to Gainesville is still being assessed.

Does that mean Scarlett will return?

UF fans getting a little taste of what it's like to be UT fans. Our guys would probably have already been sentenced to 20 years hard time and Anita would be on CNN talking about the toxic culture at Tennessee.

Not to mention we always play one of the toughest schedules and always has a great recruiting class, but let's fire the coach.

I think it looks good still if you do 15-17 (so far).

Alabama 30-2
Clemson 30-2
Ohio State 24-4
Oklahoma 24-4
Stanford 23-6
Wisconsin 23-6
Oklahoma State 22-6
Michigan 22-6
Florida State 20-7
Iowa 22-7
Utah 21-7
LSU 19-7
Washington 21-8
Tennessee 20-8
Georgia 20-8
Penn State 20-9
USC 20-9
Florida 19-9
West Virginia 19-9
Washington State 19-9

Yes, that's the 14th best record in the P5. Not bad at all, imo.

I'm a huge believer in hiring a top staff across the board. If you have elite coaches on your staff and it can cover up a not so great head coach IMO. Just look at how Clemson has done it. LSU went that route as well. It would be intriguing.

Didn't you hear? We already lost the UF, UGA, UA and LSU games.

I'd say by Wednesday we'll be planning for the demo of Neyland's upper deck.

If he can't handle the pressure at Tennessee he sure as heck won't be able to handle it at Notre Dame. They'll eat him for lunch.

Not sure that I agree with that anymore. ND is not what it used to be and plays ACC schools.

I was listening to the radio last week and can't remember who it was. But they basically talked about Butch being on the hot seat and turned right back around and said that Brian Kelly had done a good job at ND. Just hypocrisy. Kelly does have a national title appearance, but he has been 8-5 three times and just finished 4-8 last year. They lost to Texas and Duke last year.
