I think that I still don't know anything about our defense. I really don't see how anyone could think more than that.

We have played two weird offenses. One game was horrible-- but mostly because of the amount of snaps the D took--, and the other we put us good numbers, but the other team was vastly out talented.

Anyone that has made up their mind at this point-- either way-- just wants to make up their mind. AKA- "The staff can do no wrong" people or "The staff can do no right" people

The fact that a proven agressive DC in Shoop still hasn't dialed up a blitz yet tells me all I need to know about what I have seen so far. I didn't agree with the game plan for GT and yesterday didn't do much for me either, but I highly doubt we have seen the actual UT defense yet. We will know a lot more after next week.

Doug Matthews is a lot more positive than most, especially about the defense. LWS is saying we have a lot of defensive problems and they will continue to show throughout the season (Jumper thread). He says other players cannot play MLB other than Jumper. They can't line the players up properly and make adjustments he says. This was the excuse last year too and seems like the year before that. So basically we have such a complex defense that only he and Kirkland can do it?! smh

Let's see Doug Matthew's a coach and LWS a guy who gets his information from someone in AD and hasn't coached a day in his life. 🤔 who to trust?

Haven't made up my mind about anything. Just don't believe we've looked sharp so far and it is worrisome.

The flexbone is different for sure but Ga Tech isn't lighting up defenses on a weekly basis. It can be slowed down.

Wasn't saying you had, that was more a reference to those that think we are straight garbage on defense.

It's fair to be worried about the defense. Hell, I'm worried too, but I just really don't think I can make a judgement one way or the other at the moment.

That's on Thigpen. If he can't get anyone other than Jumper who is able to line up a defense he's a garbage coach. Ridiculous.

Fireable offense Bc someone sees the same **** every other competent human sees. 🤷🏾*♂️

I did not expect to here that from A Vol network employee but man you can hear the frustration

Priest needs to work on his consistency this week in practice. I think he will, he takes pride in his performance. Expect him to have a good week of practice and come out this weekend saying the right things.

What if our "development issues" are because these young guys NEVER get live reps until they are forced in? And we never get to see how good they are either, so we have worse guys Starting. You look at other elite teams and they either keep starters in most games but actually run their Offense and Defense, or they take starters out early. We keep our starters in and run 3 different plays... and it's not like this is the only game this has happened, it's happened a bunch under Butch. I don't get it

That's what I like about Tim. He calls it like he sees it and he's a Tennessee man through and through. Tim is about the only good thing about that broadcast team. Kesling sucks.

Everybody may not know who he is.

Timothy A. Priest (born March 10, 1949) is an American attorney, broadcaster and former football player. He is the current football color analyst for the University of Tennessee's Vol Radio Network, working alongside play-by-play commentator Bob Kesling. Priest played for Tennessee from 1968 to 1970, and holds the school's career interceptions record, with 18. He was captain of the 1970 squad, which featured one of the most heralded defensive backfields in school history.

Priest has practiced law in the Knoxville area since the late 1970s. He served as municipal court judge for the town of Farragut, Tennessee, from 1998 to 2005.

#1 goal of every coaching staff is to win the game we are playing. #2 goal of every coaching staff is to put us in position to fulfill the #1 goal in each future game we play. If you think they aren't considering #2 in the context of #1 you aren't paying very close attention. Naming starters, naming the injured, bringing candor to press conferences do not serve either #1 or #2, and the argument could be made that spreading misinformation serves those goals far better than information...fan outrage notwithstanding.

I don't know what level these guys play the strategy game, but I know if a good chess player were planning a football season, he would give you lots of 'facts' to consider, and very few of them would be 'true'. Reminds me of the momma bird on our front porch earlier in the summer. She would fly down from the nest when I stepped outside, and the longer I stayed outside, the louder and lower she would go. I never saw her fake the wing injury as they will do, but she did get all the way down to ground level...100 feet away from the nest, squawking for all she was worth.

Can't say that's what's going on, the staff may in fact suck, but Shoop is a pretty brainy guy. Or as Brer Rabbit says, "Please don't throw me into the brier patch...".

Will Florida even be able to practice this week? There's no reason we shouldn't win this game. Their suspensions, they've only played once, distraction of storm, potentially not in the swamp. Just so much going against them. Losing this game regardless of the day or location would be a big big let down

There's no way Shoop didn't just forget how to coach. Imo I just don't think the coaches mesh and he never brought any of his own guys. I kinda feel bad for him, he was lined up to get a HC job, he comes here and he wouldn't even be able to get a DC Job at another P5 school now.

Idk if they have an indoor practice field or not, either way they wouldn't practice till atleast Wednesday cause the storm. We better win

Kongbo got upfield quick and made some of our biggest hits during the game. I'm talking some soul crushing hits.

I don't really understand the whole "slow" thing. He didn't get in on the million jet sweeps that got ran on us, but that was partially because of misdirection keeping him inside and partially because you look for your LBs to take care of it anyways.
Kongbo and quick should not be used in same sentence.

Unless you are to say- Kongbo is not quick.

Kyle Phillips should play over Kongbo and it's not close.

How do tickets work when a game is moved to a different venue? Will your ticket number be assigned an equivalent seat in the new stadium?

Georgia going to be 4-0 going into Tennessee

South Carolina going to be 6-0 going into Tennessee

Bama going to be 7-0 going into Tennessee

LSU probably will be 10-1 going into Tennessee

😶
