They can't do that any more after last season. SEC games must be played.

It's gonna be on Saturday or Sunday and it's gonna be in Gainesville, a neutral site, or in Knoxville.

I will say that there is a greater than 50% chance it's not played in Gainesville though.

Thanks Mock! Didn't know postponement was no longer in the cards but makes sense though.

Man I really don't wanna play in the Swamp 2 years in a row.

I know you guys don't want anything positive right now but too bad you're getting it anyway. ISU couldn't run up the middle. Our DTs stopped any push the center and guards tried on them. Once again Tuttle is a man.

Pretty solid list of positives mentioned last night you missed

Can anyone name the last JUCO who did not transfer from a top D1 program, or was not incredible in HS, but lacked grades to become a dominant force in CFB?

Just asking, because I don't know of any. Some of you are more dialed in

EDIT: I'm sorry, that first sentence is not working. I'm tired and can't get it right. I think you know what I'm trying to say though

Aaron Rodgers off the top of my head. Can't think of anyone more recent though.

ROids are very much a factor for juco players. Sometimes they can't keep up the size and speed when they are being tested

I'm in the 8+ range of concern on D. Jacksonville State had a better scheme, play calls, and execution based on talent than we did against GT. If you did not see how soft we were on the edges yesterday, I don't know what else to tell you. ISU was able to run at will outside with not even Conference USA level talent. Think about it. The tricked up motion typically works for about a quarter and D's adjust. Ours never did. This contain style D will get us killed in the SEC.

It is crunch time for Shoop and Butch. The O and ST's are set and functioning well at this stage. If the past half dozen games or so is the real Bob Shoop he may be gone mid-season, which would be terrible for Butch's future. I'm hopeful he's got an improved plan that will reveal itself this weekend. I hate it because I was 100% in on the hiring of the guy.

I had to run an errand at the end of the 3rd quarter and listened to the Vol Network. I enjoy hearing Tim Priest because he tells it like it is. He couldn't believe that we couldn't set the edge and kept allowing them to get to the outside. I think we finally made a stop, and he said "at some point, as a player, you have to overcome your coaching and adjust and make a play."

What was the story on Nick Fairly? CP didn't even have a recruiting profile. Lavon Pearson was flipping burgers.

Fairley was graded out to be an OL by most. He played both ways. Was a 3*

THe full time position switch to DT was "it" for him.

But yeah, Kongbo is best as a 3 or a 5 tech. He didn't buy in last year and I wonder if that's the case now
He has no business lining up outside over KP or DT.

It almost feels like Franklin sent Shoop here to destroy UT football, he is doing that bad of a job. He had better get some tough questions from media as well as Butch whether they like it or not. This is not acceptable of Tennessee defense.

You watch games with a slant and it is obvious.

I was there live and I was not a DB but I was a QB. Not happy with either one. QD played better than JG today.

WR's were not getting seperation like we need them to do. Some exceptions but against IS, I expected better.

JG forces it too much. Did have a good run but his decision making was not really good.

QD should have never thrown that interception and he did not protect the football well. Neither QB did that. JG was luck to not have a turnover or two. It is not all that surprising because regardless if you are a junior or not, getting live game reps is very important and neither of these guys have got that. They will both grow and progress. It is just the way it is. JG was trying way too hard. Another reason that I am concerned with his maturity level but he is young. He has the higher ceiling but has some growth he needs to do. We will lose a game we shouldn't with these guys but that is what you get with inexperience. Need to get lucky and have the D be able to bail them out some. Not sure if they can do that. Will be an interesting season.

lol everybody knows your emoji game is on point butcha. Be careful though, apparently your football opinions don't count unless you're a 19 years old know-it-all that uses YouTube to learn everything you know and are extremely condescending to others and use lol all the time time make yourself feel big when it's really just a grasp at self esteem. 😂😂😂

I just don't think bringing up games Dobbs struggled (and I always said inconsistency was Dobbs' biggest flaw) doesn't really have any more bearing on what we've seen from our two QBs thus far.

Fyp lol lol lol.

Man I really don't wanna play in the Swamp 2 years in a row.

I think our team is headed up, theirs is headed down. I'd almost rather get them in Neyland now while we're figuring things out still, then go to the swamp the next 2 years when their team has deteriorated even more.

Enjoyed the win today, just some thoughts:

I feel much more comfortable at RB. Strong stable, finally. Love how Kelly runs, worried about his ankles though.

WR has some solid pieces but the drops will kill us in bigger games. Hopefully Josh Smith brings us some production from the slot, the offense has sorely missed having a weapon there the first 2 games.

QD is our QB, and I think he will be successful. He can perform presnap work that I haven't seen from that position since Ainge, at least. I'm not sold yet on the stare down problem, he shows too much intelligence and presnap knowledge. Honestly, the stare down INT was so blatant I actually think the coaches have been telling him to strictly target certain players on certain plays so they can evaluate the WR corp. the TD before the INT was to Johnson as well, and it seemed they wanted to evaluate Johnson's ability on the fade. More regarding this later.

Like our O-Line for run blocking, and pass pro was solid against GT. Definitely felt their were a lot of mental miscues today from the short turnaround. Expecting a more focused outing next week.

Defense looks super vanilla and looks kinda passionless so far. Definitely looks like a unit with their minds in the future instead of in the game. Expecting much more aggression next week and hoping the unit responds to it, because the talent IS there.

Overall the team I've seen the last two weeks looks like a team holding itself back as the coaches evaluate what they have to prepare properly for the long stretch ahead. Whole thing stinks of injury prevention and evaluation. There is definitely talent everywhere, but it's time to name a starter at QB and take off the training wheels and see what this team can do. Wherever the game is next week, Florida will be ready and strongly emotionally invested following what should be a destructive storm at home. No more holding back, guys.

Go Vols

Good post. It definitely looks like we've been very vanilla so far. Sure would be nice if more guys played yesterday. Starters should have been done at halftime. We'll find out the truth about this team and coaching staff over the next few weeks, especially next weekend. This team should beat UF and could do so emphatically. Looking forward to watching...
