If we want to compare Dormady to Dobbs anyways, it looks like Dormady can run circles around Dobbs presnap. There was a lot of talk about Dobbs never adjusting the line, and I did notice the difference in the O-Line cohesiveness run blocking between QD and JG. Dobbs could run circles literally around QD though lol. People talk about QD not hitting WRs in stride need to go watch Dobbs play again, that man couldn't lead a receiver for ****. It's probably the biggest bad habit he has to break to succeed in the NFL.
I agree with all of this pretty much. Idk if I ever saw Dobbs hit a guy right in stride until the Malone TD against UF last year.

QD's biggest asset thus far has been his poise pre-snap and command of the offense. I'm just concerned because we haven't seen him look as in-control at times once the ball is snapped.

But we've seen him hit guys in stride with passes when he was a backup. Not sure why he's had such trouble with it so far this year.

It also looked like on the TD pass to #7 that QD audibled into that play. I will have to go back and watch all of the offensive snaps again.

Side note - JK should have been benched way earlier in that game.

We need to start throwing slants... I don't think I saw a single one today.
Can someone please explain why any and every team can run a jet sweep on us at will for 5+ yards a clip? Are just never set up in the right coverage? Are our WRs not able to get off blocks? Are we just that slow and out of position? Teams will run and move the ball on this play all year, watch. Warren needs to let the DBs play closer and not as much cushion... we will get exposed if we keep the cushion...

I'll explain it. QB sees where Jumper is and changes play to run wide to his side. Unless our QB blows play up, it goes for 5+. Jumper only makes plays on runs up the middle and even then requires Bituli to help him clean up.

Safe to say, no comfort will be found in defensive efforts against Florida or UMASS, so I guess we are still in Shoop limbo till UGA, unless Florida defies the odds and goes off

Kongbo showing why the coaches slid him inside last year.

I'll say it again, if a JUCO player was not awesome in HS, I'm not buying any late bloomer magic. Just far too rare. That's why I didn't buy into George. I certainly bought into Kongbo.

If we dominate UF defensively, I'll feel a lot better at least. Maybe their offense is garbage, but they've got some pretty talented guys on that unit at least. Will be our first normal week of prep leading up to a conventional conference opponent. We'll face better sure, but it would be promising at least.

If they carry that momentum to UMass, it would feel promising to me. They aren't world beaters either, but they're G5 at least and (I think) run an offense somewhat similar to most of what we'll face against SEC East opponents.

Great to score a ton and hold a team to around 200 yards yesterday.

Nice to see JG out there. He'll improve.

QD with a pee wee football INT

I think we saw less of Calloway yesterday because the coaches know what they have there. He's ready

CFA with some flashes... finally. People questioned why he is often not discussed. Because he hadn't shown that play at TN yet. Burst, cuts and drive looked like what you want. Now do it against the big boys.

Don't sleep on USCe. They are quietly turning around very quickly. This will be a tough game

In a scale of 1-10, with 1 being "not at all concerned", and 10 being "Sunseri part 2",

How concerned are you that Shoop has completely forgotten how to coordinate a defense?

I'm at a 7

I was at the game till after 10pm last night and then went out so I haven't gotten a chance to stop by VN, but I can offer somewhat of an answer for that.

These first two weeks we have played very exotic offenses. Everyone knew that GTech would be a weird O to get ready for, but the same is true for Indiana State.

Their offense is predicated on constantly shifting their formation and running out of unbalanced looks. If you payed attention to the front-7 you would notice that they were constantly moving around to get set correctly.

With a quick turnaround and only a few days/a day to prepare and who the opponent was, the coaches didn't do too much in depth prep work. IMO.

Holding them to only 7 points, 215 yards, and 0-11 on third down isn't so bad in that kind of situation.

*Also, for coming off such a quick turnaround, Kahlil was creating tons of pressure up the middle yesterday. Reggie was up in the booth near me, so he must have been happy to see that.

I'm trying to be patient with him, but watching his play so far all I've been able to think so far is "if we had better depth at DE, they'd pack 10 lbs on you and never move you from the 3 technique."

I'm hopeful, but waiting for the magic show. He ground Florida to the floor 2nd half last year. I'd like another, sir

Man lost in all that QB/substitution chatter so far I totally missed that they didn't convert a single 3rd down.

THAT'S a promising sign, IMO. FCS opponent or not.

Pretty sure this offense doesn't have audibles. He just slid an extra blocker down when he recognized blitz

Double post. Praying for those who are preparing to face this huge hurricane. We have tropical storm warnings way up into Georgia.

He didn't change the play but he shifted coverage to move the safety. He moved wolf to the other side of the formation opening up that area. I thought it was going to be a deep post but obviously the route ran worked fine

Can anyone name the last JUCO who did not transfer from a top D1 program, or was not incredible in HS, but lacked grades to become a dominant force in CFB?

Just asking, because I don't know of any. Some of you are more dialed in

EDIT: I'm sorry, that first sentence is not working. I'm tired and can't get it right. I think you know what I'm trying to say though

The defense has been very simple. I'm hoping that he unleashes fury unheard of against Florida. He certainly had a hand tied behind the back today

Defensively, I'm at a 4. The two offenses we've faced so far, especially GT, tested the limits of assignment football. I don't think they are a good litmus test to gauge how bad our D is.

Having said that, I'm at least partly concerned. The ends and OLB's haven't been containing like they should and I believe other teams will continue testing the outside.

Patterson?

Nah I know what you're saying. And no I can't. Like I'm sure there's SOMEONE out there, but honestly I haven't been following recruiting too long and don't know enough examples of JUCOs to give a good say one way or another.

If there are some guys like that though, I'd kind of expect them to have backgrounds kinda like Kongbo's (haven't played a lot of football, maybe played HS ball in another country or something, crazy measureables). But that's total speculation, admittedly.
