State of fla is shut down so that prolonges the investigation b/c they aren't at work. I would be surprised if those 10 guys make it back for our game.

We also seem to get their best football of the season, even if it's only for a quarter or two.

I fully expect them to hit some peak against us performance wise that they fail to match the rest of the season.

Yep. Been saying it for awhile but I'm just not in the "Florida/Donkey sucks" crowd. Idc how they've looked in the first week or two of the season when they see the orange uniforms on the other side they turn into a different team. Will be surprised if Tennessee comes out of there with a win tbh. People can call me negative but it is what it is.

I think Georgia beats Florida in "The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party." We need to beat dogs in Neyland for sure

I think so too. I think we have to beat the gators and GA to win the east. GA has the easiest schedule. They get MS State as their rotational opponent where we get LSU. I think we'll play the number 1 & 2 teams from the west. Florida gets A&M. With having to play Alabama every year, our margin of error is razor thin. GA has the easiest road making our game with them a must.

We've now faced two offenses that are difficult to defend. Their constant motion was an alignment nightmare on D. Just started rewatching the game and they ran an unbalanced line frequently and constantly moved the TE's and tackles.

Most important takeaway: my daughter loved her first game.

Didn't QD throw and INT and lose a fumble on back to back possessions today? lol

Didn't Dobbs lose two fumbles and toss two interceptions (including the game killer in overtime) against A&M in his fourth year of playing last season? Wish somebody with computer skill could answer our questions. lolololololololololol

Yesterday they looked like a team coming off a tough game , short week , and playing an opponent that they weren't really that fired up about. Saturday against the Gators we will see a different looking team.

In a scale of 1-10, with 1 being "not at all concerned", and 10 being "Sunseri part 2",

How concerned are you that Shoop has completely forgotten how to coordinate a defense?

I'm at a 7

Enjoyed the win today, just some thoughts:

I feel much more comfortable at RB. Strong stable, finally. Love how Kelly runs, worried about his ankles though.

WR has some solid pieces but the drops will kill us in bigger games. Hopefully Josh Smith brings us some production from the slot, the offense has sorely missed having a weapon there the first 2 games.

QD is our QB, and I think he will be successful. He can perform presnap work that I haven't seen from that position since Ainge, at least. I'm not sold yet on the stare down problem, he shows too much intelligence and presnap knowledge. Honestly, the stare down INT was so blatant I actually think the coaches have been telling him to strictly target certain players on certain plays so they can evaluate the WR corp. the TD before the INT was to Johnson as well, and it seemed they wanted to evaluate Johnson's ability on the fade. More regarding this later.

Like our O-Line for run blocking, and pass pro was solid against GT. Definitely felt their were a lot of mental miscues today from the short turnaround. Expecting a more focused outing next week.

Defense looks super vanilla and looks kinda passionless so far. Definitely looks like a unit with their minds in the future instead of in the game. Expecting much more aggression next week and hoping the unit responds to it, because the talent IS there.

Overall the team I've seen the last two weeks looks like a team holding itself back as the coaches evaluate what they have to prepare properly for the long stretch ahead. Whole thing stinks of injury prevention and evaluation. There is definitely talent everywhere, but it's time to name a starter at QB and take off the training wheels and see what this team can do. Wherever the game is next week, Florida will be ready and strongly emotionally invested following what should be a destructive storm at home. No more holding back, guys.

Go Vols

lol everybody knows your emoji game is on point butcha. Be careful though, apparently your football opinions don't count unless you're 65+ years old 😂😂😂

I just don't think bringing up games Dobbs struggled (and I always said inconsistency was Dobbs' biggest flaw) doesn't really have any more bearing on what we've seen from our two QBs thus far.

Nick,

To answer your question, my concern is now a 9. Here is why I say that. There are some basic deficiencies in our defense that are easy to correct, but for some reason are going unnoticed.

First of all, we have to look at our subbing. I have no idea why Ignont was not playing until garbage time. Would it really hurt to play him instead of Jumper or Berry in this game? This is precisely why we are in the position we are in this year. Bituli should have been getting more snaps last year. Not sure if this is a Jones or a Shoop issue. It seems we rotate more people offensively so I would guess Shoop.

Second, the aggressiveness is gone from his play calling. I get that the offenses we faced were unconventional. However, our scheme was very basic with man coverage across the board and 1 deep safety playing zone. This worked for our game, but there were many times players go open and the QB did not have the skill to execute. We will get exposed in bigger games.

Finally, our defensive line is the worst I have seen in many years. Not sure if it is talent, conditioning, etc. Is this really the best we can do at defensive tackle in year five?? Watch the tape. KMAC did better, but he gets taken out of the play often.

Our kicking game and running game will keep it close in many games. However, this is a 7 or 8 win team overall. Not the most talented or expeirenced team we have had in the Jones era. My issue is that basic coaching mistakes are still being made. I like CBJ and I hope that he does well here. He is a good man and he wants this job. However, the upper tier SEC teams will eat this offense alive.

If I am a D coordinator, I am putting a spy on John Kelly all game. I am playing zone coverage (which QD struggles with) and am only rushing 4. He can scramble, but he is not going to win a game with his feet. Shut down the running game and make him pass. If he does not make vast improvements, he will throw 2 or more INT's versus the Florida D. They are not elite but still good.

Florida wins 21-13. Flame away, I will see you rednecks later.

Agree with this for the most part. Honestly part of me was thinking we might see them look a bit more sluggish. Defense looked good for the most part. Offense wasn't bad for how much they were moving around guys at OL/RB/TE/QB.

I'm right there at about a 6/7.

I go back and forth between thinking he lost his mojo without Brent Pry (his right hand man until 2016), thinking maybe there's just some sort of staff cohesion issue, and thinking maybe his priorities aren't set 100% on coordinating the defense as much as much as they are trying to make the jump to a HC gig/contract disputes with PSU.

If we want to compare Dormady to Dobbs anyways, it looks like Dormady can run circles around Dobbs presnap. There was a lot of talk about Dobbs never adjusting the line, and I did notice the difference in the O-Line cohesiveness run blocking between QD and JG. Dobbs could run circles literally around QD though lol. People talk about QD not hitting WRs in stride need to go watch Dobbs play again, that man couldn't lead a receiver for ****. It's probably the biggest bad habit he has to break to succeed in the NFL.
