They should be preparing him to start. Playing Ignont today helps him and Jumper bc Jumper needed the rest.

I don't disagree, but the time to start him is not right now.

Let's look at it a different way, do you think our coaches are saying "I know Ignot is better but the hell with it, let's start Colton".

I think they are risk averse to a fault. I don't think he should have started today or this past Monday, I think he should've gotten playing time Monday (could've used his speed on the edge and Jumper needed the rest. He played MUCH better when he was fresh) and I think he should've played 3/4 of the game today.

Yeah but they know what Jumper can do. He's hit his ceiling. He most likely is better than Ignont right now. And that's not a good thing.

They should have given Ignont a chance make some plays and/or mistakes so he can close that gap and get closer to contributing.

I've already agreed to that.

At the very least, Ignont should have been in from the second drive of the 3rd quarter onwards. No way ISU was coming back. Get some young guys in the front 7 some experience. Some of them might end up being forced into playing by the end of the season. Better to let them make some mistakes against a team you know can't beat you than to force them into a game against Mizzou/Vandy/UK and have them making dumb mistakes because they've only played 6 plays all season.

I agree that Jumper shouldn't have played as much for the reasons you state but disagree that he shouldn't be starting.

Eli Wolf- ankle sprain
Martin- Stinger and could have returned.

You can breathe now Cat.

They did it with Kirkland....

Kirkland was an EE and they at least worked him in a bit at times.

I understand being worried about Ignont and assignments since he was just a summer enrollee. But you've gotta work him in in games like this.

Wouldn't hurt to pick a few spots to work him into our real games either. Put him in in situations where he'll have some simple reads and just let him play on instincts.

Again with Callaway, they weren't saving him or whatever. Why isn't he being targeted by the QB? He's open a lot of plays. Just like Palmer is open a lot. Was glad #2 hit him late. But Callaway should get touches and early. I'd get him 8-12 targets a game. He's got an argument for best playmaker on the team at the moment.

Thought they were holding Callaway back this week because of his hamstring.

I don't think I said he shouldn't be starting.... yet... lol. I think by mid season he shouldn't be at least.

Man, I can't believe we let a team like ISU beat us. Unforgivable, fire Butch now!

So you aren't at all frustrated that our tired starters played 90% of the game, while our young athletic backups sat and watched instead of getting valuable in game experience?

Callaway is the best playmaker, right now, hands down. Over half the time he catches a pass it's a TD. U were right, he is faster than I thought he was, still not Malone fast, but what makes him so good is the way he attacks when he catches a ball and then he is so physical, runs like a RB. I love him as the PR, too.

Callaway better be the go to receiver from here on out. But Dormady can't stare him down! Florida doesn't have to score on offense if he does that because they'll house a couple ints

Malone wasn't fast in the game man. And didn't break one short pass for a TD while he was at Tennessee. When Callaway clocks a 4.41 or something at the combine what will you say?

I think the angle is if you are not a well oiled machine (which right now we are not on either side) then game reps for the starters is needed. They peppered in the you uns but the swamp is next and we needed more oil.

Brandon Johnson has had more targets two weeks straight. I think he's No.3 WR talent personally. Palmer and Callaway get open like elite WRs. Need a QB that will scan the field and deliver the ball deep to them. They are downfield mismatches. This team is built to go vertical with the speed outside and the fast RBs. Plus the OL is athletic..... Offense potential is good but QB is holding us back for sure. Throwing check downs is not going to win big games at all. And we need to score points with this defense of ours. Also need a QB that can extend plays with his legs to keep the defense off the field.

Man, u missed the whole point of my post and chose to post something about the one thing we disagree about. No, Malone never did that, like I said Callaway runs like a RB after the catch.
