So... from a recruiting forum perspective...

Dormady, 2nd half. Potential.
Bituli. 23 tackles. Monster.
Calloway. Breakout.
John Kelly. Beast.
Darrell Taylor. Clutch.

Maybe I'm an uneducated idiot, but to me, I didn't see a lack of effort on the defense. I hated seeing them give up 1st down after 1st down, but I felt like that was more about GT than it was about Tennessee defense. I'm CERTAIN there is room for improvement, but at what point do you give credit to the 230 lb bowling ball Benson? That QB played well and was fast and elusive.

I wouldn't be surprised if GT ends up in the Top 25 this year.

By the way, they are 0-1 against the SEC this year. And Tennessee is 1-0.

Enjoy the good.

Maybe not, but having him available could easily have been a difference maker IMO

I think it would have been him or Jumper and from everything the staff says they trust Jumper. I know it's dangerous trusting what the staff says but I think Jumper plays the same amount even if smith was healthy

Y'know, unlike some people on here who would ***** if we won the NC by 4 TD, some of us can take solace in this little tidbit:

"An ugly win beats a pretty loss any day".

Bingo, and I will take 10 of them right now and call it a season.

I think Bituli, Smith and either Jumper/McDowell would have/could have been much more stout against the GT attack. I do think Jumper plays a lot regardless, but having another big, fast body in there, especially at LB would have allowed them to do some different things, maybe more blitzing etc.

Sloppy play was okay because we won, then TAMU happened.

Giving up tons of yards was okay because we won, then Vandy happened.

Maybe. I just don't see Jumper being ready to play all three spots. Seems like he was ready for Sam and MLB

You know damn well this board all off season said this O was easily prepared for with time. Suddenly it isn't. Lol. It was #theygoingtoleanr all preseaon. All we learned was this D still sucks

Do you even hashtag bruh?

:eek:lol:

I was disappointed we didn't see Sapp at all, or I missed him. Is he still working his way back?

I think we will be ok at LB this year if one or more of Sapp/Smith/Ignot can step into a more prominent role. Would allow us to have a decent rotation IMO. Confident in Bituli and to some extent Jumper and McDowell to provide decent play. Need one of the other guys to step up and be more of a difference maker like the potential Bituli showed.

Just guessing but I think he is still slowed by injury

I saw a much more disciplined Tennessee team. How many penalties? Last year was ridiculous with penalties, but this year, not so much. I still think we surprise people.

I do think we miss JJ this year.

And Evan Berry is unstoppable unless you just don't kick to him.

I can see Ignont playing some this game. IF we can put it away early. GOTTA start building depth everywhere! LB, WR and DT especially.

I agree that Saturday could be a hot mess. On one hand, we need to rest our starters and give the young guys a chance to get gameday experience; on the other, we need to build continuity on the lines and between QD and the receivers. And then there's JG. Just need the W. It's all a tuneup for the Swamp.

Bass, you get a like for all the alternate 👀 looks. You know, if there was a like button.

I'm ready to see a lot more of Wiggins/Osborne/Freshman CBs also, done waiting on Martin to figure it out and short leash for EM as well. Yea he made that one play, but it looked to me like the WR had dropped it already.
