Jarrett Guarantano

How do you know he lied to JG? Were you in the room with Butch and JG? Didn't think so. You need to stop believing everything you read here and you to STOP stating rumor as fact.

And another thing, your grammer makes it hard to take you seriously..

I hope you are not an English professor.

1. You completely left a word out of your last sentence.

2. You misspelled "grammar."

3. Your sentence structure and grammar were as bad as the person you were correcting.

How many people think Butch lied to JG the way he lied to JH?

Don't know what's happened to the "like" button, but I certainly do....

I saw C. Holloway talking to an obviously "troubled" JG as he sat on the bench--I can't remember what part of the game it was...

But it simply is inexcusable to allow JG to sit over there and pout....That is poor leadership and discipline by the coaches....It should've been corrected....

It's one thing for "us fans" to pout and be upset during the game....but as a PLAYER--you get your azz up and support the team....No whining allowed....

Lied to them? Maybe he told them what they could do with their talent if they came in and earned it.

You think Saban lies to his recruits? Or, maybe he tells them what they're capable of, and if they earn it, they get it.

IF you tell JG that he will get an opportunity to play...and then don't put him in the game....it's a lie...and poor leadership on the Head Coach....

Having said that, nothing excuses whiny little babies on the sidelines who pout like little (and old) girls who don't get their way. It's vaginal....

Wouldn't blame him given all of the crap Butch and Co. likely have sold him.

From what I have heard, he was sold on UT under the premise that he would be starting once Dobbs was out and Dormady likely transferring.[/QUOTE

You were told a line of bull**** then

Maybe that is what Holloway was telling JG. Maybe JG just kept pouting anyway, and the coaches said screw it, we got a game to play. Maybe JG will be paying for it this week. Maybe players should be held accountable for their actions. Maybe everything is not the coaches fault.

In the end, the decision the coaches made to stay with QD is what gave him the time to settle down and perform better in the second half and do his part to pull that game off.

I for one, totally believe that a change in QB's last night would have definitely lost that game.

So you admit that you are forming your opinion of the situation based on no real information. Got it.

No there's plenty out there on Jalen Hurd to say that Jones sold him a bill of goods when it came to how he would be used and it didn't end up that way.

I think coaches tell little white lies to keep highly talented players from bolting all the time. It's not just Jones.

Like I said. I wouldn't be ripping this kid a new one especially knowing what that snake oil salesman Jones is capable of saying.

He should have got a shot with the way Dormady played. QD should be thanking the lord for Calloway looking like Andre Johnson at Miami. He does need to work on his attitude. I think most of that was on the coaches though.

I was on the sideline and QD did a good job, He hit some big passes down the stretch and nobody especially Wolf could catch the ball in the first half. There were a ton of drops when they were right in the receivers hands.

Defense line got manhandled like GTs defensive line. Insted of attacking the offense our defensive line just stood up and got pushed back. DLine was really disappointing.

JG? I would send his ass packing after his on the sideline antics last night. Overhyped and overrated imo.

man please even kirk herbstriet called for JG to be in the game last night so I don't know what access or what view u had on the sideline but clearly u didn't see what majority football fans saw..

I can agree that it is showing poor character to pout about not playing. But then again we are talking about a teenager not a grown man. But tearing him down for what is almost certainly a Butch Jones issue is a little harsh.

Oh yeah and I'll cover my other based by saying this... let's just assume for a moment that JG is a prima donna. It was Butch Jones who recruited him and let him on the team. Ultimately his behaviour will fall back on Jones anyway. Guys don't just show up on game day and reveal themselves as being selfish and a cancer. They show up on day 1 at practice that way. Actually they probably show up that way when they are recruited before they ever get to campus.

Love all the armchairs who look beyond the stats.

Dormady played a better first full game at quarterback than a guy who is probably going to start this week for a NFL franchise for the Buffalo Bills. Yes, the o-line struggled in the first quarter, but we finished with 6.7 yards a carry, allowed 0 sacks, and only a few hurries. Yes, Dormady made a few bad reads and throws but he also had 5+ DROPS that killed momentum and drives. He also had to deal with 2-3 bad snaps that were nearly disastrous.

I swear to God, if the new UT QB making his first start completed 110% of his passes for 700+ yards and 10 TDs you guys would've still been crying like for the backup QB to get some reps.

Guarantano needs to be ready to play, and should play some this year, but the game honestly didn't align well for him to just come in just as Dormady was starting to find some semblance of a rhythm.

Was anyone else concerned by Gurantano's demeanor on the sideline. Dude was completely checked out. He was communicating or going over things on headset etc. He was even called out by Kirk Herbstreit twice on National TV.

I understand he was probably upset that he didn't win the starting job, but no matter whether he stays at TN or chooses to transfer, that is not a good look for him in-front of hundreds of scouts and televised all over the country.

I hope the kids gets his chance and has successful career but you can't have a me first attitude in a team game. He was one snap away from getting in. He is a teenager but his QB coach isn't and his OC isn't. It was up to them too to handle this in a much better fashion.

Also him liking this sarcastic tweet about his own team and staf doesn't say much positive about him.

In game changes. It's football. Things don't always go as planned. Including playing time. It's not poor leadership to recognize what is needed during a game and going with it. It's obvious JG wasn't having any of it from the get go. This is not an attitude that just popped up during the game and deteriorated as the game progressed. JG started that game on an island, waiting for QD to fail. At no time during this game, from the very first play on, did he ever engage. He was pouting BEFORE the game started. THAT is why he never got in the game. The CORRECT decision last night was to stick with QD, win or lose.

I am equally disgusted with the players that continued to sit with him the entire game.

He also said after the game Jones made the right decision driving with Dormady.

When Kirk Herbstreit takes time to call out how the backup quarterback is acting on the sideline. You know it's bad, Dormady did ok for his first game. Not gonna lie dormady struggled in the first half, the wideouts and wolf dropped 3 first downs. And JG not getting any playing time in the 2nd half after the struggles in the first half. Should tell you more about JG than dormady.

I think concerns about body language are one of the top 5 stupidest things in sports. People have always said **** about the Manning boys body language (albeit for different reasons than JG) and they have 4 SB's between them.

Agreed

Butch has a history of being stubborn and playing the upper classman when it is clear the upper classman sucks (see Worley).

This is nothing new. The problem is that Jones is so secretive that we have no idea if JG is good or worse than QD. All I know is how many people paraded up and down this board talkin bout how UT had a "good problem" with 2 really good QBs to choose from. Well what is the real truth then?

I saw a kid that throws off his back foot and another kid who didn't even make it into a game when the starter was clearly over his head.

I don't know what to believe but it's clear that the truth wasn't being told by someone.

Dormady deserved the shot. He looked better in the spring game. He got the nod. It was his first start here. Callaway had a heck of a night, but that is what you want as a QB. Somebody that gets the ball even when you're off. I think JG leaves after a couple more games. He looked like a baby on the sidelines and we don't need that crap!

If QD had come into the game and blown the doors off the place and that is why JG didn't get to play then your argument makes sense. However that isn't the case .

The truth is that zero in game adjustments were made .
