Recruiting Forum: Official Georgia Tech Pre-Game/Game Thread

What's up, boys??!! Are y'all at each other's throats in here?

All I can say is wow! What a game and refuse to lose mentality. I'm very glad that game is behind us, and I hope we don't see that offense ever again. We have a lot to work on, but kudos to those kids for not quitting.

Probably the most concerning thing I saw tonight was that we are a soft football team. We don't try to punish RB, QB, or WR when they have the ball. We let them hit us instead. GT was by far more physical than us. That's concerning when we get into SEC play. You have to play physical in this league. It's a mentality and not something you can turn off and on.

You have to attack a triple option offense. I've never seen UT really attack that offense, I really do believe it is fear of injury that caused the passive game plan. We are paper thin at LB and DT. If we lose two to three starters at those positions in this game to knee or ankle injury...then what happens to the rest of the season? I really think that they didn't plan on the offense struggling so much to start the game. If we put up two more scores early in the first half then it forces GT out of their Modus Operandi.

My nephew in Crossville was texting me with glee (Illini fan). Dormady was "garbage" "skittish" "nervous" et al. Told him that Dormady had some stinkers but was mostly hitting receivers in their hands and looked poised to me...and my own opinion is the final verdict TO ME. Reminded me of Dobbs game against SC in his second season...every reason to be defeated and he kept it a hunnert! He also took a shot at JG and his attitude on the sideline. My response was that he's competitive, wants in and that's what we want. Then he said that it's a bad look for the national audience...response was the tonnage of a f*** Vol fans care about the national audience. :) That being said, on the tying drive in regulation, JG was practically in the tunnel while the rest of the team was flashing signals and cheering teammates...Herbie noted it and couldn't argue. :pinch:

So TheBreakerBoy is your nephew?

Curious to see what GT does the rest of the year. Can definitely see them getting out of the Coastal division and playing in the ACC championship.

How can you see that? What did GT show that makes you think they can get to the ACC championship? Because they played great against us?

Anytime you can rush for over 500 yards I'd say you're a dangerous team. Offensive line looked good. They have a QB that is dangerous, that fullback is a load and they were missing one of their top RB's. And they play in the coastal division which is the weaker of the two.

These coaching shenanigans fly can teams like Ga Tech. And they get glossed over and people are like "we won"

And then when we play teams who are legit top 25 teams, we get mashed and pushed around and people are like where did this come from?

Winning doesn't cover up all the game mismanagement mistakes. *broken record*

Loved the fight I saw from Kelly, Dormady, Smith, taylor, Bituli Warrior & callaway.

I saw a talented QB, some good backs, great coaching and some athletic defenders. Let's just see how they are moving forward. What did you see?

I think we all see it Jay, but as fans, we can't do anything about it, so I'm going to be happy with a win in this contest.

QD throws multiple picks against a top defense, FG kickers make easy kicks, DT sucked, mismanagement of timeouts, rushing for over 500 yards, WR drops, OL early play, DL development, LB development... all the negatives are clear to see

Dormady played decent minus some bad footwork issues early but he fought thru it and gave his best receiver chances to make plays.
I'm all for that

Are you prophesying now? So if your wrong we get to throw stones at you? :) He was his first start against a good team on a big stage. Had 6 drops by WR's. He play so much better second half can we cut him some slack? He didn't throw an INT last night that I know of. Just saying. GBO!!

I would bet money Butch told JG they were going to play him and then the offense started sputtering. After that they still didn't put him in. I can understand why he was mad if he felt like the coaches lied to him.

We'll, IF, the coaches told him that then I can understand being pissed, BUT, I've been lied to before too and it doesn't give me an excuse to not act like a dang man. We don't need pre madonna Hurd type attitudes on this team. Regardless of how the game goes everyone should be on the sideline cheering or at least learning and being prepared to go in. Did he watch when the offense was on the field at all? Watching film and watching live snaps are two different things. He should've been paying attention in case he did have to go in and not chewing on his nails and stolling around on the sideline. I love JG's game but you gotta show the coaches you have the maturity to be the QB at The University of Tennessee. Last night he acted very childish and we don't need a child running our offense. Hope he learns from this because he will probably be needed this year.

Even the announcers were talking about him standing far away from QD and not even close to the OC to hear the play calling. BB you don't know exactly what was said between them before the game. CJ could have just said I am going to do my best to try to get you in there. I do know CJ said he wanted to get both of them in but would just have to see how the game dictates things.

Which is exactly what Jones said when he was asked the question from the media. Depended on how the game was going.

You mean he needs to watch some game film of Sherion Jones?

This. Everybody was all heartbroken last season when we lost to SC and Vandy and it's like "oh it must be the injuries" cause nobody wanted to remember we played like ass for all but about 7 halves of football all season.

It will catch up to us again this year and we will lose some games we shouldn't. Hopefully Florida isn't one of those and hopefully talent Helps us upset some teams along the way.

I think that there is a difference between last year and this year. Last year, we had a know quantity in our play makers. This year, they are trying to establish themselves. However, we need better DT play or it's going to be a long season. We can't keep letting ball carriers get to the second level unmolested. If we have a good push from the DL then the D will work itself out. The O performed very well in the second half. Let hope the first half was just because of jitters. If we can get JJ back quickly, we can spread the ball around pretty well and open up the running game. If all that happens, we can win 9-10. If not, it will be a long season and the O will have to perform some miracles.
