Jarrett Guarantano

When asked what he told Dormady at the half... Jones said he told him to keep doing what he was doing. He saw the dropped passes. He didn't blame QD for missed assignments by OL's.

Man **** that I don't blame him for being pissed one thing u don't do is promise a player that he has a chance and dont give it to him..JD sucks if yall think he had a good game then yall sleep..JD was horrible tonight and if I'm butch I start JG next game...Callaway and Kelly save the vols because it sure wasnt the qb play

Can you please translate that into English?

Yeah. Butch should let players sulk and not support their teammates and then make sure they play the next game. That would be GREAT coaching to reward someone for such "mature leadership".

The QB has to be a leader. JG was not. Not close. Not only should he not play next week... he probably can't be trusted to be the back up.

MAYBE... if he'd been up behind the play caller with a headset on staying engaged in the game he would have played. He chose to be wallow in self-pity instead.

He has talent... but NO ONE wants that kind of attitude. He needs to consider that before ever thinking about transferring.

Yea I understand he could have been more of a team player...People have to understand this kid future at stake here..Butch knew who is starter was all along, so why lie to the kid and say he gonna play and u don't put him out there..Especially when dormandy looking like crap..The problem is butch dont want that kid to transfer so he held him hostage..

Yep, QD has a long way to go to be the passer that Dobbs was the last few years.

The entire QB competition was obviously complete BS. It's no wonder JG isn't very happy. I hope he doesn't transfer out.

:lolabove::lolabove::lolabove:

It wasn't BS. Some of us tried to tell you and others that Dormady was ahead because he could manage the O better. That is a BIG part of why UT was able to get back on track and get the win tonight.

JG needs to put the team before himself before he's trusted to lead it. Maybe that's something the coaches had already seen too?

Fortunately for the Vols... you aren't the coach. The coach rewarded the guy who earned the job. He stuck with that guy even when 5 WR drops stalled the O. He trusted that guy with the game on the line... and he came through... he LED the team to victory while JG sulked on the bench rather than supporting the teammates he supposedly wants to lead.

Nawl thank Callaway and Kelly because it wasn't dormandy

So no one else does? His future is ruined because he doesn't start as a RS Fr? Sorry but no.

Who said he told him he was going to play? When did he guarantee JG playing time? The answer is that he didn't and many of us knew that QD was leading the competition since spring. I don't know how much JG closed the gap... but it did NOT appear to be a very close competition leaving the O&W game.

Or maybe.... he played the guy he knew gave the team the best chance to win.

D-O-R-M-A-D-Y (no N) wasn't the reason the O didn't go early in the game. In fact, Jones suggested that QD was the piece that DID NOT need to change in order to get things going. QB's can't control 5 receiver drops. Without those 1st half drops, this is an entirely different game.

If JG's attitude on the bench is a reflection of how he might have handled those drops... then QD was DEFINITELY the right choice.

He is young though. You have to cut him some slack.

No. You don't. He's old enough to know better. This is big boy ball. The world is a cruel place and he better wise up and learn how to navigate the potholes of life.

I remember what Vince Young said in a 60 minutes interview back in 2007:

Asked if he's going to the playoffs, Young tells Scott Pelley, "We working on it right now. I wanna say, you know, I'm not trying to predict it right now. But how we looking right now, we have a big shot at it."

"People have told you to calm down on your predictions, haven't they?" Pelley asks.

"No," Young says, laughing.

"No?" Pelley asks.

Says Young, "Can't nobody tell me nothing."

Nope. They sure can't Mr. Young.

And if Mr. Guarantano doesn't change his ways - and fast - before he knows it he'll be sitting on the park bench feeding the pigeons with Vince talking about the glory days.

Nawl?
Are you retarded or just have a hard on against dormady?
And yes it should be pointed out that you are spelling his name incorrectly on purpose tho I will admit there is a chance you just don't have a clue and may be honestly that mentally challenged

Nawl thank Callaway and Kelly because it wasn't dormandy. Dormandy made my Nephew Brandon look bad tonight..throwing the ball behind him also over throwing him on the td..Then they pull him out like he did something wrong..smh

That says it all.
Personally id say it was arguable or who made who look bad, but i just want the vols to win, and love team players and gamers like Kelly Callaway and Dormady.

After the first half I said Dormady should sit and JG should get a chance. I was absolutely wrong. QD showed some ****ing poise and character. He didn't give up and throw in the towel. I really think that in 15 years we will be looking back and talking about how good Josh Dobbs actually was. QD isnt anywhere near as mobile as Dobbs.. and at this point, from what we have seen.. He is about equal as a passer.. CONSIDERING what we have seen.. but QD sure as **** has heart and he never once seemed like he gave up or thought it was a game we couldnt win. He got better as the game went on. I was seriously impressed by the fact that the game looked like complete **** the first half but he didnt once show any kind of frustration or anger. He kept his head high, and tried...he never acted like a spoiled *****.

Dormady threw some horrible balls tonight so has to improve a ton

UT isn't going to beat a single SEC team with Dormady at QB they way he played tonight. He must improve his accuracy and learn to led his receivers when he throws across the middle. Not to mention, he's as slow as molasses on Sunday morning.

I said that all last season when people would criticize his passing.

Don't agree loved Dobbs, but Oline was just as shaky tonite and Dormady stood in the pocket found playmakers, threw the ball away when he had to and didnt take a sack, he made good choices and kept plays from breaking down.

Dobbs, for all his playmaking ability took lots of sacks, never ever threw the ball away and could kill drives with negative yards, interceptions and fumbles.

Dormady gave us excellent game management tonite. All wide receivers(or TE ethan wolfe!) that can catch will benefit greatly from Dormady at qb.

Gotta agree. Dormady appears to be a kid who could really get better and better over time with game experience. I like that he's more of a drop back passer who can distribute the ball to people like Calloway who really flashed in this game.

It's imperative that the coaches get a handle on the JG issue so that he doesn't create factions in the locker room. Either he gets on board and has a good attitude and works while he waits or get rid of him. He's only one hurt quarterback from taking over and he needs to remember that. I started watching football 42 years ago and I've yet to see anybody who was ever bigger than the game.

WHY NAME CO STARTERS? NAME A STARTER AND GET IT OVER WITH..U DONT KNOW BUTCH TOLD THAT KID ...
He didn't name co-starters. Not once. He didn't announce a starter... there's a HUGE difference. You don't know what he told him either. And regardless of what he did or did not tell him... JG is supposed to be a leader on the team not a selfish punk.

Dont get me wrong in happy they won but don't make it seem like Dormady or whatever his name is this great QB.. Give JG kid a shot this week...

Dormady played very well in the 2nd half and didn't get help in the first half. Five drops. That's the difference between a 13 for 20 start and an 8 for 20 start. That's a difference of several drives extended. That's a difference of 8 or 10 minutes of TOP. That's the difference in a completely gassed D and one that maybe could have dictated the game to GT.

No player played perfect. QD had a few bad throws. But drops were a MUCH bigger problem in this game.

JG should not get a shot until his attitude is fixed at the earliest.

BUT... the team needs ONE QB. Not two. You give the job to the guy who earns it in practice then you go with him until you need to make a change or he gets hurt. It DOES NOT help the team to play musical chairs at QB... and especially if one of those QB's is as immature as JG behaved.

JG could transfer 'now' and not have to set out all of next year. I thought he would get a series or 2 after QD did not move the football when we got our first opportunity in the 3rd quarter, but Butch let QD stay in the game. However, JG should have involved himself much, much more in the game. But remember he's only a redshirt freshman who was the no. 1 dual threat QB in the nation the year he graduated HS. Did he not get a shot because he did sulk, or did he sulk because he got no shot? That's question.

Fast enough to make some positive plays with his feet when it mattered.

He threw some bad balls. He also threw some balls where they needed to be with receivers not settling into spaces.

When playing a zone, you don't continue your route at full speed. You settle into gaps. There were several occasions where the receivers kept running when they needed to slow or stop. And of course you had 5 drops in the first half that stalled the O.
