When Jumper ends the Ga Tech, assuming he starts...

It's about shedding blocks in this game. Which he sucks at, but honestly none of our backers have been that great at it since jrm and aj. Kirkland was looking solid before injuries but it is what it is. I
Hope for the teams sake he shows out.

Jumper is no Kirkland, just like Kirkland is no JRM or AJ but he will be our starting middle linebacker against the Yellow Jackets. He is a VFL and being a 100% Vol fan, I'm rooting for him to be the best he can be. As long as he and this team give 100% I'm behind them all the way! Go Big Orange!!
Kick some azz!!

Step back from the ledge my dudes. We will be okay. We have three LB's. If Ignont is what has been advertised during camp, he and Bituli will see significant reps. If the DL stays healthy, it will take some pressure off the position.

Jumper plays flat footed and rarely makes a stop behind the LOS. He takes bad angles and is slow. Maybe he has improved but I would have to see it to believe it.

Shoop loves Jumper and that is good enough for me. Kirkland may be red-shirted so others have to step up. Jumper could be playing for many D-1 schools and team is fortunate to have this true Volunteer. If the defensive line can hold up physically this season, your LB and most concerns for secondary will be solved. Stand by for the real Shoop Magic Show and relax your worries.

Jumper is too slow to match up with drag routes coming across the middle. He won't have to worry about that against GT or Ind. State but will against Florida. Bituli and Ignot are better athletes but Jumper can line up the defense better

What D1 schools are you referring to? I'd like to walk on there!

Who was the last SEC east champion that started a walk on at the Mike? Not knocking the guy, just not sure he is who we need for more than a couple of games.

To trash a college kid of the team you say you are a fan of for his play makes you more pathetic as a fan than the kid could ever be as a player.

game with 11 tackles and 2 for a loss, I hope we can stop the player bashing on him and an our other players.

The fact that Jumper is in the conversation to start means he is a good LB who beat out 2 future All SEC players, by all accounts (Bituli and Ignont), for the role.

From what I have seen in videos with the coaches, THE LAST REASON they would ever give for defensive struggles last year is Colton Jumper. SO... what do you guys know that they don't? Which of you is watching more game tape?

Look. We all want an AJ Johnson, side-line to side-line alpha-male in the MLB spot (Jumper is not this guy), but lets consider it a blessing that we have some depth to allow DKJr to get better and for Bituli and Ignont to develop into the next AJ.

I will be worried if the coach says on Monday "we are really going to need some one to step up/grow up/etc..." this is something you hear a lot from coaches. But what you are going to hear after this one is "We have 2 good options with Jumper and Bituli that we are very comfortable with. And Ignont is starting to come along as well."

Go Vols. Beat Tech.

38-16

Jumper starts means he won the job. You are forgetting that volnation knows more than our coaching staff does! Our coaches would purposely put in a player to lose is stupid so wake up volnation and stop bashing our guys.

Hey Hey you are all over it!

38-17 Vols big!

:)

I'm glad we have Jumper. I can remember when home grown TN walk-ons that became scholarship players were celebrated, not trashed (Nick Reveiz). I hope Jumper plays a lot of great football for us this year.

I'm behind jumper all the way, because the coaches are. This situation is exactly why recruiting quality depth matters, there needs to be little drop-off from first to third stringers.

Jumper made good plays in the GA and FL games last year, games we won, remember? Against some of our biggest rivals?

I think we as a fanbase need to a better job of having a realistic perspective of college football. Injuries happen, players fail drug tests, and 5 stars don't always pan out. It happens, that's life. We deal with it the best way we can, it's not always going to be 100% awesome.

Jumper played good at times last year, but he was also burned and ran through at crucial times as well.

It is what it is though, hope he steps up if given the nod.

He definitely has the brains and the instincts. I don't think he is quite as fast as DKjr though.

I hope he plays good enough to get drafted!

Thanks for cleaning this up mods. I cant stand seeing some "fans" wish an injury on one of our own players. Classless scum. I wish those people would go root for another team.
