I see you're off your meds again
It's hard to respond to such quick-witted, original comments from you. How do you do it?
The salient point about this redneck sheriff is that you law-enforcement personnel don't break laws to catch lawbreakers. I realize that's a distinction that Southern males who drive trucks don't appreciate--but it's rather a big deal in law enforcement and our society, since we all put great stock in the police actually obeying the laws. If you can't trust the police to obey our laws, then we've got serious problems. And we assume that law enforcement will, you know, follow orders from federal courts. Here's a bit more on good 'ole Sheriff Joe:

Impressive copy and pasta but you could have just said "buuuuttt obama.'
We get it, you guys are still using obamas BS to justify trumps BS.
I could explain to you why this is ironic but for those of you who keep trying to justify bad behavior with more bad behavior probably wouldn't understand the explanation.
Cool."Not only is a pardon a blow to those victimized by Arpaios punitive policies, it sends a message to every police officer in this country: you can do anything you want to the people you are supposed to protect. You can jail them illegally, hurt them, even endanger their lives and Donald Trump will let you get away with it. A pardon for Arpaio gives every venal cop a license to abuse." - Kevin Boyd
Arpaio didn't just commit a crime--like stealing a car or embezzling money or whatever. He intentionally and over time defied a federal judge and a federal court order. There's a difference. He abused his office, committed illegal acts, was ordered to stop by a federal court and he defied the court. No wonder Trump likes him! Trump is an authoritarian who has contempt for our judicial system--thinks he's above the law. He's not complied with conflict of interest laws related to the presidency--or the emoluments clause in the Constitution. Also, it is standard procedure, protocol, to have the Justice Dept. vet possible pardon cases. Did Trump do that? No. We can only hope that the craven Republicans screw up enough courage to impeach this disgraceful president--but that is too much to ask of them, I'm afraid.
Pardoning someone for disobeying a court order is just more of an attack on the courts. And now Joe says his conviction was a political witch hunt.
Sigh.
He needs to be impeached. Right now.
More people need to hold the liberal azz courts in contempt. Big fat serious real contempt of who they are and how they "interpret" laws on the books so they can "make law" to suit their belief system.
%I thought federal judges were the qualified arbiters of American constitutional law. I didn't realize it was actually southern rednecks and goobers like you! Whew, what a relief. It's like conservative boobs who want to tell SCIENTISTS they're wrong about climate change because they heard someone on fox say it. Arpaio broke multiple federal laws and defied court orders. But I guess now that he's been pardoned you can drive around in your truck and shoot off a few celebratory rounds!
The Arizona Republics editorial board said Trumps pardon showed the president entirely accepted institutional racism.
By pardoning Arpaio, Trump made it clear that institutional racism is not just OK with him. It is a goal, the board wrote. The pardon, they wrote elevates Arpaio once again to the pantheon of those who see institutional racism as something that made America great.
The board wrote that a pardon for Arpaio wasnt just insulting to Latinos, but to all.
The pardon was a slap to those who worked through the judicial system to make Arpaio accountable, too. It robbed the people hurt by his policies of justice even before a judge could mete out a sentence, it said. The pardon was a sign of pure contempt for every American who believes in justice, human dignity and the rule of law.
The Arizona Republic was not the only newspaper to speak out over Trumps decision. The Phoenix New Times, a weekly newspaper, posted a series of tweets outlining several of Arpaios most controversial acts over the years.
Among the leading political figures to criticize Trump for his pardon was Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
The President has the authority to make this pardon, but doing so at this time undermines his claim for the respect of rule of law as Mr. Arpaio has shown no remorse for his actions, McCain said in a statement.
So what if its ironic? Every president engages in worthless BS. They say and do stupid things. Its basically standard operating procedure for a US president. Obama blamed Bush for 8 years and tons of people were fine with it. Why is it you have such a problem with people now blaming Obama?

Trump tried to interfere in the prosecution.
I sense a pattern with him.
Joe took an oath to uphold the laws of this country. Why would jurisdiction play any part? If an Oak Ridge Police officer is in Hawaii for a vacation and witnesses someone being robbed or assaulted, does he say "it's not my jurisdiction, so I'm not going to do anything"?
If Arpaio's officers are hanging out on the border in their free time, go for it. During work hours, they are supposed to be worrying about Maricopa County.
BTW, illegal immigrants nearly quadrupled in AZ during Joe's reign of terror, so I'm not sure he was "effective" by any measure.
You guys arguing that Arpaio should not have been convicted of contempt are missing the larger point. He was found after a five day trial to have intentionally and willfully disobeyed a federal court order. His first option was to have changed the law. His second was to appeal the conviction.
To pardon him for disobeying the federal court order -- rightly or wrongly --opens up a can of worms.
Think about what would happen if the Trump administration had its way and outlawed sanctuary cities. But the gay mayor of San Francisco gives Trump the middle finger. Disobeys a direct federal court order. Is found guilty of criminal contempt. But then a Dem came into office and pardons him with a slap on the back for ignoring the law and an order from a federal judge.
I don't know. Just seems like this makes the law very unstable to me. And basically encourages violators for political reasons to run out the clock until they get someone in there that is friendlier to their cause.
So we are a nation of laws?
