Charlottesville white nationalists riots

We are in agreement that he told his supporters what they wanted to hear. I think we are to the point in the analysis where we are now looking at what was it they wanted to hear and why?

Considering the alternatives, that shouldn't take long.

One hell of a party when they all but kick him out of the party for saying all lives matter. The loony base will not try to nominate someone a bit more moderate than Hillary, the next nominee will be more in line with socialists like barry.

Pocahontas by a landslide.

Anybody think Dodge Dude's charged get pled down due to the new video showing alt left rioters attacking his car before he stomped the gas?

This was not about the statues. Trump is trying to redefine the issue to make his remarks palatable to everyone. You guys are buying into it. SAD!

You're right, this has gone far beyond monuments. It's now a referendum on whether it's ok to commit violence against another group because you don't like their message.

If it's not about the statues then you should inform the media and your left sided people. Because they seem to think it is about the statues.

You live in a bubble, and have a good job. Many, many people who aren't in a special interest group struggle from paycheck to paycheck. They wanted to hear that someone understood their problems, and seemed to be on their side. They viewed Hillary as part of the problem, and she disrespected them and their intelligence with the deplorables remark.

I haven't forgotten her remark back in the early 90's when she was asked about the struggles of small business people (of which I was one) and she said ...."we (the government) can't be responsible for every undercapitalized small business person." Of course the government can't be responsible, but the condescension and tone struck me like a knife in the back. She didn't give a flying f*** about small businessmen's struggles due to government regulations.

It's so politically charged right now that I can't imagine any extenuating circumstances coming into play - nobody would want the riots that follow anything less than a beheading.

Or is it an opportunity to downplay the violent death of a young girl by someone whose "message" is about as un-American as it gets?

What did they want to hear?

I can tell you what they didn't want to hear and that was more political-speak. Americans, by and large, were fed up with "blah, Federal Prosecutor, blah, work with others, blah, blah, as Florida Governor, blah, my time in the Senate, blah."

They wanted someone saying the same things they were thinking and they didn't care if he was nice about it. And I honestly think, as I've said before, the people revolted against the "establishment" on both sides (Bernie on the left, Trump on the right) because they didn't sound like normal politicians. Furthermore, I think they were fed up with the media (all sides of it) picking sides and screeching about everything.

You want to know why Trump got elected? Because he didn't sound like a politician. You won't like that answer, but there is it.

I have a friend, left of center by a lot, kept saying "Trump will never make it past the first debate". That changed to "Trump will never make it out of the first primaries". That changed to "Trump will never be the nominee" which changed to "Trump won't make it to election day" which of course became "Trump will never beat Hillary". Maybe you're right, (I like Pence better anyway/not a Trump fan) but would you put up your house and retirement accounts on it? If the Republican congress/Trump can get tax reform done (good chance), castrate and quarantine Kim Jong Un (already in progress), good trade deals get renegotiated and the economy keeps plugging along...Trump's numbers will go up and it's going to be a long four years for Luther.

Are you friends with luther?

Okay, see, those aren't jorts. Those are Daisy Dukes.

If your fashion sense doesn't allow you to understand women can get away with that while guys just cannot, you need to reevaluate your choices in life.

I think we can agree that jorts on a guy = lame, but on the right girl....

That's something I can get behind.

CNN posted a map on August 17 showing the location of approximately 1,500 Confederate monuments and/or official symbols in the U.S.

The map will, no-doubt, serve as a hit-list for the frenzied Workers World Party members and others seeking the removal and destruction of Confederate statues in city after city across America.

The outlet embedded a Southern Poverty Law Center/CNN map of the U.S. in the article–a map complete with green, blue, and red dots to signify the locations of the Confederate symbols. The green dots show schools with Confederate namesakes, the blue dots show courthouses that have Confederate monuments/statues, and the red dots show “parks, trails, monuments, municipalities, holidays, buildings, flags” that are maintained.
