My kids go to a school that is at least half black and the black kids their is a much smaller % interested in going to college.... Is that white privilege bc every single job that I have worked at pays exactly the same no matter the race or gender?

How do you gauge their interest? What are you basing this on?

I don't think white privilege is really about equal pay, is it? If the cops aren't fighting the war on drugs in your neighborhood despite people doing drugs, then that would be considered white privilige.

So when do the individuals start taking responsibility for their own lives? They already have preferential treatment when it comes to college scholarships. They have preferential treatment when it comes to government jobs and if they own their own business, government contracts. Public education sucks but plenty of folks, black and white have succeeded despite it. You get out of public education what you put into it. Much of these problems stem from years of being in an environment that encouragement to succeed academically is absent.

I don't know whether you have children or not but I can tell you that in my house, freedom is earned. Academics are stressed as many stress athletics. I've always said if families emphasized academics as much as athletics there would be a lot more smart people in this world.

Fortunately my kids have been excellent students. (I could use this opportunity to brag but I'll spare you all of that.) I do think my kids have understood that schoolwork comes first. I've always told them if they don't want me pestering them about homework, manage it yourself and bring home the grades. But, if they have a bad grade, they lose their privileges of a cell phone, car, TV, video game, athletics, or whatever. I can also tell you that a "C" is failing in our household. The point I'm making is we stress this level of achievement in our family and I firmly believe that in this day in age that anyone of any color of any background can achieve.

I don't think this is a racial issue. I think it is a lack of personal responsibility and lack of emphasis in the home and it's not race that dictates it.

I don't disagree with much of what you have said, but we have to lift out some of the people stuck in that cycle in the ghetto. Beat it one success story at a time. People learn to value education. I also believe that the absence of fathers must be addressed in some manner. Nearly 60% of school aged black kids don't have a father physically present in their lives. Compare that with 20% of whites.

Do they hire and promote at the same rate?

Sure, I'd accept it from Trump if he had publicly apologized for 30 years and even more importantly had a 100% voting record from the NAACP. Let the voting record speak.

I don't know that anyone deserves a pat on the back for having their voting record 100% aligned with another group. Either they don't think for themselves or they are bought and paid for.

Ahhh, folks in white neighborhoods don't do drugs...Why is the war on drugs fought solely in the poor black communities? Arguably, a much larger impact could be made by destroying the lives of affluent white users by arresting them and sending them to jail. Destroying the lives of a few white folks would probably lessen the demand more than arresting a low level dealer that sees no other way to earn a living.

Actually if they were out dealing drugs on the corner in a white neighborhood, cops might be the least of their worries.

We have about a 3% black population here, and they arrest a bunch of white folks for meth and pills every day here. Very few blacks.

No info graphics required. Common knowledge for decades that he was a klansmen.

You just moved the goalposts. No one disputes that he was a Klansman, just the claim he was a Grand Wizard. The fact is, he wasn't.

You have to really do some mental gymnastics to believe that somebody would join the kkk without knowing they are a racist hate group. "He thought it was something different and apologized after leaving" is not a convincing explanation.

You've misquoted and misrepresented the position. Typical around here. He stated he "he joined because they were anti-communist", not that he didn't know what they did and it was something different than he thought - which is a complete misrepresentation.

Would you accept that explanation if Trump had been in the Klan?

If his departure from the org was followed by decades of service promoting racial equality, absolutely. Talk is cheap, Robert Byrd backed up his remorse and regret with action. I'd imagine that not many Klan members get 100% ratings from the NAACP for voting in line with their agenda.

I consider them my family and friends... I am around them constantly.... I talk to them and that is what they tell me....white neighborhoods and black neighborhoods that do drugs are entirely different from what I have seen... white people stay more hidden indoors while black people are more openly dealing.

so voting 100% in line group think style with NAACP = not being a racist.

Sure

The elephant in the room is that a lot of times voting in lock step with the NAACP actual hurts the black family. The way the left has destroyed the minority family is very sad. Incentivizing single parent households and devaluing the father in the family unit is the core of this problem.

It's a damn shame how the media covers up for this group, they are way more dangerous than these fringe white supremacist groups

I know you want to run a "the media is biased" angle here, and I normally am sympathetic to such viewpoints, but the "bias" here in this case is simply a bias for ratings.

Antifa and their role in Charlottesville doesn't get talked about because the general public, quite simply, has no clue who they are. They've heard of the KKK and neo-Nazis.

How did you just prove his point?

I'm not sure what government can do to rectify that problem. You can't force fathers to be there. You can force them financially but the ones that don't pay do we jail them? That's what's going on now a lot. Do we remove kids from homes that don't provide an environment for learning? Government can't solve all these problems. Sometimes I think we make failure too comfortable. I don't think the negative incentive not to fail is strong enough.

Ummmm, what would Trump be voting on? I'm pretty damn sure this is the first public office he's ever held.

That's a big part of the issue is culturally we are different on a generalized point of view... for example: I invited a black girl to be on my daughters travel basketball team and we went and played in a tournament 4 hours away.... her parents met us one time briefly for about 30 seconds and they didnt call a single to check on her.... it starts in the home and the environment people are raised in.
