Charlottesville white nationalists riots

Stating a fact is not a deflection.

You sir are a fool.

You continue to avoid addressing the subject at hand, instead thinly alluding to unrelated topics and organizations in hopes of redirecting attention from the threads topic. That's the very definition of deflection.

Your immediate name calling suggests you don't have an argument to make, you just want to look like you do.

the essence of the Southern conservative male--or maybe I should broaden it to conservative middle American male: When it comes to their political viewpoints, they are all low-information, fact-free attitude and little else. This explains their usual six-word word responses. Perhaps it is because when they do try to say more, it's usually factually incorrect....or worse, just plain lame.

There is the old saying about keeping one's mouth shut that is applicable to your post.

Stating "facts" and, for the purposes of this statement we'll just assume what you said are facts, can be deflecting. eg. Trump's inner circle meets with Russians. Trump says, but Bill Clinton met with Lynch on the tarmac. Everything is factual, but the two statements are not related. Classic deflection. So, stating a fact can be used as deflection. Might want to be careful about calling others fools.
Why?

Black businessman from Merck quit one of Trump's business panels in protest over Trump not disavowing white supremacists. Then Trump bashed him in a tweet about high drug prices.

Trump douchebaggery continues.

They are a component of the alt-right, which numbers far more than 6000 and he absolutely needs for re-election. I don't believe he supports them, but he isn't going to piss them off either. It is political strategy.

The "alt-right" is a liberal boogie man.

Ras considers himself to be alt-right. Is he a white supremacist?

Again this is an attempt to group all conservatives who support trump as white supremacists. Libs have been trying to do this from the beginning.

Muh racist frogs!

It's idiotic grandstanding. The council is formed to confront real issues that people actually care about that actually impact people's lives. Yet that gets thrown out the window because Trump condemned ALL forms of hate. THE HORROR

It's funny how you call him dumb only to go on to imply that there are only 6,000 members of the American electorate that are racially motivated and that all of those are Klansters.

I think you should stick to the argument of "be nice to the racists since they might lose their jobs" tack. As mind numbingly stupid as it is, the thought of the "starving families" is a heck of a lot more compelling.

Right. Trump won because of Obama voters in the rust belt who voted voted for him. Clearly white supremacists

Why should I be careful? There are no ramifications for making a statement.

It's clear you like to speak in absolutes. Of course there are ramifications for making a statement. We spend considerable time on this very board discussing those ramifications.

In your case, my comment was simply a reminder that sometimes it is better to remain quiet and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. You called someone a fool and based that assumption on a demonstrably false statement.

Just why does the President refuse to condemn neo-Nazis, white supremacists, the KKK and others like them? Does he fear losing their support? Does Trump support them?

He certainly has no trouble calling out any person, group, or religion he doesn't agree with. Why do the open racist organizations get a pass? Are you in line with Trump on this?

I agree he absolutely should, but I don't recall you guys being upset when his predecessor refused to do the same. That's where reactions are politically motivated.

Blah blah blah. You think your smart. You are not. Now type out a clever response.

Not the best PR optics given the situation. He unleashes on a black man about one hour after the announcement, yet crickets on neo-Nazis.

He'll throw anyone under the bus to save face. He claims to care most about loyalty, when he has none to anyone but himself and his ego.

This is why he commends despots and autocrats. They appeal to his nature.

What you don't get is that Trump used the tired "condemning all hate" message as an excuse to not actually condemn the real problem in this instance, which is hate coming from a defined group of people.

All it does is feed the impression that Trump sides with them, or at least is their protector. And certainly values their support at the ballot box.

Trump is no longer just incompetent or embarrassing to thinking Americans. He's now just shameful.

I've only been reading the last 300 posts or so, but I noticed that the smarter and more principled conservatives on this message board are not in here.
